the secret service has clearly changed from when they used to be all by their selves in the treasury dept.

the book "in the presidents secret service" by Ronald Kessler is an outstanding look at the only government agency that used to work inside of it's budget. they took pride in that.

the book also covers the history, the assination attempts, and the man behind the office of the presidency by the brave men and women sworn to protect them. (that'd be a good inside cover blurb huh?)

read this book and you can sum up every president from JFK to Bush in one word. these folks didn't have political axes to grind, so they told it like it is.
