Default Need help identifying a pump .22 short

I have a .22 pump with a "C" marking on the inside right below where the hammer strikes and on the barrel it has ".22 short or CB cap". The rifle has no serial number. Also looking for a possible value on the weapon.

Welcome to the forum.

It appears to be a Marlin Model 25; if no company markings maybe a "store brand" example.

I looked at a ton of pictures of the old Marlins... they have different screw patterns on the receiver and most of them that I have seen are marked.

Marlin made several different pump .22s, but their No. 25 is the only pump I know of that anyone ever made for .22 Short and .22 CBs. It was made only ca 1909-1910.

It's a scarce gun, so don't know if it's listed in Blue Book, etc. or not.

You might try the Marlin Collectors Association: http://marlin-collectors.com/

Are you sure there's no marking on the upper stock tang?

There were several similar models, the 18, the 20 and the 25, and variations, but deputy101 is right, the only one marked that way is the Model 25. The top strap behind the hammer should read "Marlin/No. 25".

The odd shape of the trigger guard is due to damage; it was not made that way.

I thought the trigger guard was damaged also... but unless they cleaned it up good there is not a single scratch or type of pressure mark on the trigger guard

I was able to find pictures of the Marlin No. 25 and they are pretty much identical with the exception of this one not having any marking besides the "22 short or CB caps" on the barrel.
