what would you do?

I got into an argument with my friend the lib on another board, he doesn't believe Obama's challengers can/will fix the economy.

I said "aww geez bro, I could fix it. this isn't rocket science"

we have some really connected and engaged folks on here what 5 things would you do to right the ship??

my 5 uhh 7 in no particular order:

1, repeal Obama care (if it doesn't fall in court)

2, clip the EPA's wings, turn it from a pit bull into a Yorkie

3, issue permits to drill baby drill.

4, STOP PRINTING MONEY!

5, fire every bureaucrat hired in the last 3 years.

6, get rid of all the onerous regs that have been put on small business.

7, cut taxes.

I have learned the lesson quite a while ago, it is a total waste of time to attempt to "reason" or debate with a liberal. I refuse to do it anymore. Years of debate have lead to nowhere and its frustrating when you look back on the time you wasted trying. It ALWAYS ends the same. All the facts and reasoning dont matter and in the end, they resort to name calling because they have nothing to stand on. While it is totally up to you to decide what to do with your time, I have decided to spend mine on something more productive.

8. Cut food stamps to 1 yr to get a job,I would stop them all together,but you have unemployed people that really need them.
9.Hire all the veterans coming home from war to update are infustructure,roads,bridge,would be a great stimulus.
10.If your elected you get 1 yr to fulfill your campaign promise or your out.

I would limit all government payouts (welfare, WIC, unemployment, Social Security, tax credits, etc.) to a maximum total lifetime amount. And it would be set pretty low.

There is no reason that people are on unemployment for a year, work for six weeks, and go back on unemployment for a year. That's ridiculous. At some point, that "helping hand" is no longer holding a person but just a parasite. And I have no pity for people who won't work to care for themselves.

Eliminating this stuff is all well and good, but we can do more than just eliminate. Lets look and things to ADD to boost our economy.

We already talked about drilling, this is key and basically number one. Make the USA energy self sufficient.

We are swamped with imports from China and others. The big ass boats from China come here loaded to the nuts with their products and merchandise and we as consumers gobble it up. Why? Well you all know why.
China dumps their products on our shores, but forbids US from returning the favor. We need to have a trade agreement with China. For every dollar of Chinese merchandise than lands on our shores they must accept the same $$ in USA made merchandise on their shores.

as much as I'd want to you can't deport American citizens (dang it) the wood chipper might be an option

dealing with China is a hot topic as well, we must be measured and diplomatic but firm. we can't keep borrowing and they can't keep manipulating their currency.

I'd hire the Donald to deal with them.

energy independence is key and crucial.

Sorry! Tariffs don't work. Bin there done that. We need to find a market for our products, not tax ourselves into higher inflation.

This discussion is about what real Americans like us would do to save this sinking ship, not what Washington would do. They have a path of destruction that cannot be stopped. We are just preaching to the choir here with a little down home wisdom and common sense before the whole nation comes crashing down around us.

I disagree with this completely.
The education system in this country is run by the Teachers Unions and corrupt Politicians. Dumping more money into the Unions pockets will only make things worse, not better.

can you imagine if all these things came to pass? it would be a return to a federal government of about 1922. with the exception of a few safety nets (not spider webs) to provide a stop gap measure but kicks out participants after a set time I can see it now.
