Remington Rolling Block barrel codes and proof marks
I am trying to find out if Remington, or Springfield Armory proofed the barrels on the Rolling Block or the barrel when they were made. I know that foreign countries added their own "acceptance" and sometimes proof marks. My specific question is regarding a 1901 patent 7mm 20" carbine barrel. It has a letter J with a space then V35, (might be the top of a Y) located on the bottom of the barrel near the receiver. They are on either side of the barrel wrench pin hole with the J towards the front. Does anyone know what they mean??
