Default Information on Bayonet?

While helping a friend of my grandfather clear out an old storage building we came across this bayonet inside. Quick net search seams to indicate that it is a VZ 24 but I am not sure.

There are no markings on the bayonet besides what appears to be a model number stamped in the bottom. We can't find anything on the blade itself. The bayonet is not in the best of shape so we don't know if it's valuable and worth saving or not. The Blade is about 11.75" long and the whole bayonet is just shy of 17" long.

Can anyone help? Much thanks for any info.

Default Re: Information on Bayonet?

Not a VZ24 and really not worth much in that shape, emt. It's a generic FN Mauser type bayonet, produced by the hundreds of thousands in the 20s and 30s for export to accompany rifle orders from many countries around the world...
That's a serial number on the pommel; many of these bayonets were matched to the rifle they were originally issued with.
