I found this scope attached to this mount recently. I think the scope tube is a Davidson ?? The tube is brass and ~ 15.25 " long and .75 " diameter. There are no markings. The mount is an anomaly to me too. Can anyone identify these?

Sorry PBACZUK, I can't identify it for you. One of my best friends and fellow Old Guy has I believe the same scope mounted on an old hand me down rifle and we can't find ID on it either. His base us hand made. But it works great.
Welcome to TFF.

Does anyone know of either Malcolm or Davidson scopes from the 19th century?

No, sorry again. We are guessing it is a Mossberg or Lyman but that is just a guess.

Okay. Thank you so much for the inputs thus far. Were Mossbergs and Lymans unmarked as well?

It looks like a 3/4" tube but mine are Unertl and Lyman and that looks older...it reminds me of the older tube style Iron sight that hd no magnification to them and was meant to concentrate purely on the front sight.

Interesting, about how old would you determine it is?

Probably 1940's maybe even earlier. I have a very similar one that is a Lyman and it is from the late 30's

Looks a lot like an old Malcolm “Rough Rider” 3x tube scope. If it is, they were made between 1857-1902 and sold for around $9 at that time. I believe the company was bought out by Leatherwood. Sorry about the image, I goofed it up saving it.

Super, I think you helped me narrow it between the Davidson and the Malcolm that Davidson copied. Now to identify the mount.
