Built one working on another, I love it but its a lot of work and you will not save any money

Built one years ago. AMT Hardballer frame with a GI parts kit. 50 dollar frame with a 60 dollar kit got me into a 250 dollar gun for 110.

I don't think GI parts kits exist any more. Don't know how much it would cost to do one, nowadays, but would probably be expensive.

On the plus side, I completely and totally understand 1911s.

I have taken them down and put them back together but never built one from scratch. I just keep buying them.

built the green machine 2 years ago.

Here it is with a Norinco TT-33 copy I refinished with the leftover OD.
