Smokin Guns forgot to tell you about the note taped to the outside of the box:
"As part of a new policy concerning firearms,this gun has been modified to prevent the bolt from moving far enough to chamber a cartridge.This will make for a safer country and will also help prevent theft of firearms in transit as it will not be useful for anything except looking at.Thank you for your support,(signed)the postal Gun Nazi."

If worse comes to worse, I saw some sights something like that on E-Bay last night. Not sure if any of them were the right kind or not...cause I know nuthin about them critters.

That really sucks SmokinGuns,

Does the shipping box show the corresponding damage?
Who was the carrier?

It's a good thing you're thick-skinned because dealing with damaged goods through the seller/carrier can be a lot of red tape.

I had the experience myself, 1 time. I think it took like 4 months to get it setteled. And had it not been for my persistance and luck, talking to the same claims adjuster, I think I'd still be waiting.

On the bright side, I'm sure you can have er' taken care of.

shipping anything is risky ,if it where the u.s.p.s. ,can take six months to collect,and becuase it is a firearm ,expect a thourogh investigation , they will try to find a loophole ,as not to have to pay

they will tell customers packages have to be able to be dropped at waist high ,ya right , imagine this :

you are a postal worker ,one of many that will handle the package
after its arival ,and it has made it through the chopping ,{sorry} sorting machine , so you stand there in front of two dozen large 3X5 feet tubs , two or three deep ,this means 15 feet away
ok got that ?

you have a half a semi-load of packages you have to sort out in a hour and a half , now do you think one person unloading them will walk them to their tub ? , nope it's micheal jordan time

packaging is everything , i would wrap up in heavy bubble tape , put in a box , and put that box inside another box filled with peanuts , to make it "shock proof" well you get the picture

they will have to see the box it came in and all material used to pack it also

That's why I just accepted it. Way to much hassle for no more than I have in that ol' rifle. If i can't get it fixed it will make a good parts gun for me and others...

Thanks for the Postal info. gpostal. It will help me if i ever decide to ship something...

Dan, that's some visual you paint, and easy to believe.

You are absolutely right about box it came in and all material used to pack it.

you would be amazed on some of the packages people would bring in to ship ,and want it insured , one glass item floating around in a box ,boxes that wiegh 25 pounds taped with scotch tape , boxes that won't close ,stuff protruding out

and mark it "fragile" all you want {BIG LOL}

as far as handling goes ,it don't matter who you ship it with ,it all sucks , you must pretend it is going to be dropped off the back of a truck doing 35mph min. , and dropped off by a one armed newspaperboy delivering the sunday post

thats why there are walls behind the clerk

i love the first "ace ventura" when he is posing as a ups worker playing soccer with a package

Sorry about your rifle Smokin.

It is amazing what people will ship.
Have you ever seen one of those wine bottles that are about 4 foot tall?
Had someone wrap it in strips of "newspaper" like you make a piñata.
The shape was still there, but all the glass was at the bottom.
Had to call everyone else on the dock over to see this one.
All we could do at this point, was laugh at the stupid things, that some people do.

I agree with you Tuckerd1. I believe most things are not packed properly. I am not in the shipping business, God forbid, but to run the volume and in a speedy way it is hard to treat evey package like an egg. Thebarrelman

The only thing I have ever had damaged was the package UPS left on the front porch and the neighbor's Lab strowed half way down the block. Still no damage except shipping documents. Found it all.

Had a nice polite conversation with the neighbor though.
