As the Supreme Court recently reaffirmed, the Second Amendment protects one of the American people’s most basic and fundamental individual rights: “the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.” The Second Amendment is essential to the functioning of our free society. Mitt strongly supports the right of all law-abiding Americans to exercise their constitutionally protected right to own firearms and to use them for lawful purposes, including hunting, recreational shooting, self-defense, and the protection of family and property.
Like the majority of Americans, Mitt does not believe that the United States needs additional laws that restrict the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. He believes in the safe and responsible ownership and use of firearms and the right to lawfully manufacture and sell firearms and ammunition. He also recognizes the extraordinary number of jobs and other economic benefits that are produced by hunting, recreational shooting, and the firearms and ammunition industry, not the least of which is to fund wildlife and habitat conservation. Mitt will enforce the laws already on the books and punish, to the fullest extent of the law, criminals who misuse firearms to commit crimes. But he does not support adding more laws and regulations that do nothing more than burden law-abiding citizens while being ignored by criminals. Mitt will also provide law enforcement with the proper and effective resources they need to deter, apprehend, and punish criminals. As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt was proud to support legislation that expanded the rights of gun owners. He worked hard to advance the ability of law-abiding citizens to purchase and own firearms, while opposing liberal desires to create bureaucracy intended to burden gun owners and sportsmen. As governor, he also designated May 7th as “The Right to Bear Arms Day” in Massachusetts to honor law-abiding citizens and their right to “use firearms in defense of their families, persons, and property for all lawful purposes, including common defense.” As president, Mitt will work to expand and enhance access and opportunities for Americans to hunt, shoot, and protect their families, homes and property, and he will fight the battle on all fronts to protect and promote the Second Amendment. Sounds legitimate. Think he means it?

I'm voting for him. Just posting that means enough. And, he has not hidden any of his records like medical, school, birth certificate, etc.

He mirrors the Clintons in their hatred of guns. Still, he is better than the alternative.

I am going to vote for Romney, first because we can't afford another term of Obama, and then because even though I doubt he can stop the economic slide all together, maybe he can get the brakes on so we don't go off the cliff. Then we can start setting things right. But, if all the people who didn't vote 4 years ago, because they didn't like McCain, don't get out and vote this time, we will have Obama back in Washington or wherever he's vactioning at the moment. Same thing goes for the Ron Paul supporters, I like Mr. Paul, but realistically, he's not going to be elected, and votes for Mr. Paul are just votes that could send Obama back to Chicago. Sorry Chicago.

They are always pro-gun on the campaign trail, past actions speak louder than campaign rhetoric and I ain't saying no more about a man who only became a Republican because his opponent was a Kennedy and wouldn't have gotten on the ticket if he would have had to run as a Democrat. He is as much a Republican as Senator McCain is a conservative.

In any and all elections I pull the all Republican handle or button.....I cannot tolerate the national socialist nature of the Democratic party........Most independents are wackos...........................I am however worried that Romney is a poor choice as the leader of our already struggling nation.
It is sad to say that anything is better than re electing Obama....It is too bad that the Republicans couldn't come up with a candidate that is better than Romney. If the Republicans can't get enough Democrats out of the house, congress, and senate what ever a Republican president tries to do will be stiffeled......This is where political power resides any way!! |

I believe he'll say whatever it takes to get votes.
He's a career politician. And like Clinton and Obama, he never served in the military. Believe it? I guess that's a no fer me. ![]()

Guys, the most important voting that we do is to control both the House and the Senate. I am in the anything but Obama mood and hope that that happens. But, it is Congress who can check mate any President and we need that ability more than ever.

True enough. BUT we have had republican majorities before, and some of them are RHINOS without the political backbone to stand up against the Socialist-Democrat minority. We need more TEA party and Gingrich type of Republicans and fewer McCain candy-asses.

In case anyone has a poor memory, as Gov. of Mass, Mitt signed into law a ban on "assault weapons."
Obama has not proposed nor signed into law any firearms bans what-so-ever. Take away all the hype, and Obama has a far better 2nd Amendment record than Romney. (Now, give me a chance to put on my helmet for all the rotten tomatoes and incoming fire.) All the best, 45Auto |

I half way supported Newt Gingrich, but he is history.......Romney cannot defeat Obama even if Newt ran as VP........I see Romney as a hollow figure with no charisma!......He will fall to pieces under the Democratic onslaught.
I will pull the all Republican lever as usual, but have no great expectations. |
