Could I get a little more of an in depth explanation on the workings of the giveaways.
Thanks. |

Lyle, it's a raffle, that doesn't cost anything. If you would like whatever it is that is being given away, you say "Put me in". That got you your free raffle ticket.
If you don't want/need it, don't ask for your name to be put in the pot. Simple, right? There is a minimum number of posts required to get in on the "free raffle". This is to prevent people from finding out about the giveaways and joining just for the freebies. New member, and first five posts are "I want in on giveaway # 1", "I want in on giveaway # 2" ,"I want in on giveaway # 3", "I want in on giveaway # 4", "I want in on giveaway # 5". Not cool. Some of the stuff is more valuable than other stuff. At least one gun has been given away. The more valuable stuff normally requires more posts before you can request to join THAT "free raffle". Some time after the end of the month, the person giving the item away will select a name from the ones who said "I want in" his giveaway. I'm sure the selection is done randomly. I've heard of assigning a number to everyone on the list and then using a random number generator to pick. I believe one guy, this past month, said he assigned everyone a number and then told his kid to pick a number between 1 and whatever, and that's who got it. You could write the numbers on slips of paper and draw one from a hat. Since I used to D&D, I'd use two 10-sided dice. It's not required to be on this board, but, since forums cost money, some people contribute to the cost of running this board. Those contributors get two "free raffle tickets" in the giveaways they want in on. So, for this one here, if 50 people say "I want in", then my chance of winning is 1-in-50, while a forum contributor's chance would be 2-in-50. That cover it?
