Glen, I commend you, my friend, for keeping a cool head.

I know it's frustrating to buy a new pistol and it goes haywire out of the box.

As you know, Taurus is trying and for that, I commend them.

Glen, I feel for you. You know that you PM'd me Mark Kresser's email address, so I did email him. Our email back and fourth was of good nature and he was happy that I was considering being a future first time customer through the purchase of a Taurus 1911. However after what I have seen, I will e-mail him and let him know that I will not be buying their product after all.

There is no excuse for this. With today's technology and the machining tools and build concepts that they have at their finger tips there is no reason for poor workmanship of this nature. IMO the targets that they sent you were a demonstraton that your pistol could have held tighter groups than that. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think so. You would think that if Mr. Kessler got involved that the gunsmith that worked on your pistol would have laid everything out and went through it one piece at a time. That is not the case here and it is you that is paying the price. It is obvious that they cleaned it up, put it together, shot some groups without actually stopping to realize that something was wrong, and sent it out. That is uncalled for.

I will send that e-mail right now my friend.

Looks like to me, if they couldnt get it right the first time around, they would just replace the pistol! The first "repair" atempt and with the pics you took and posted,
it looks as though it had been vice-grips put to it's top slide, and a kid trying to
rack the slide with all sorts of metal to metal tools.... that was NOT good at all.
I do feel for you and your troubles with the company.

What a disappointing turn of events. I have to applaud you however for keeping a calm and level temper through this, you have infinite patience, and I strive to reach that point myself. I most likely would've been on the verge of a meltdown. I hope they do the right thing for you by shipping you a new tested and verified pistol, with the included upgrades that you soooo deservingly received after the second return. AND THEN SOME! If not, I, personally, will have serious doubts about ever purchasing anything from them in the future.

Go to your Walmart, get the photos printed. Call Taraus and get the pres name/addy. Mail him the photos and ask him why you should put up with such 'repair'? Ask him what would he do if his gun was treated like that. Sit back and wait. Advise us of response(s).

Tuesday June 26 Just called Taurus to find out the status, Repair or Replace. They are going to replace the PT1911. The problem now is my model is out of stock. I told the Customer Support Gal, Susan that they could substitute any other model and that would be fine with me. She said that she would talk to the Customer Service Manager and let him know. Susan also said that this matter is on a fast track to finish...
Updates as they happen.

Susan also said that the Customer Service department has extended it"s hours to 10:00 pm Florida time.

Glen thanks for the update, hopefully they'll upgrade you to a Duo-tone with Bull head grips or a stainless model with same, and I would think that they would probably have their gunsmith perform an action job, for your troubles.

My friend you sure have the patients of Job, hope you are completely satisfied with the outcome.

shoot safe, shoot straight, and have fun

Just called Taurus. They say that they are out of stock. Waiting Shipment. Time for another letter to Mark Kresser. I stated that I will except any of the PT1911s in .45. Darn

I would think that they could direct any authorized dealer to ship you one out of their inventory. Don't lower your expectations because they drag their feet...demand more.
