Yes, he told us in advance what he planned to do. Few were listening.
Few are listening NOW ! ! !

The following is a narrative taken from From Sunday's 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, Televised "Meet the Press" THE THEN Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.

General Bill Gann' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code,
Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, "Stand and Face It".

NOW GET THIS !!

'Senator Obama replied:
"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides". "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression.."
"The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing."

Obama continued: "The National Anthem should be 'swapped' for something less parochial and less bellicose.
I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing'.
If that were our anthem, then, I might salute it.

In my opinion, we should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as 'redesign' our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love.
It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren.

If we, as a Nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails - - - perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments ......"

When I become President, I will seek a pact of agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts.

We as a Nation, have placed upon the nations of Islam, an unfair injustice which is WHY my wife disrespects the Flag and she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past".

"Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put my hatred aside. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First black Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America "

I just pulled the transcript from the 7 Sept 2008 Meet the Press and didn't read any of this. As a matter of fact, Obama wasn't even on Meet the Press that date.

Are you sure you have your facts straight?

I agree that it looks very bad posting untruths about someone (regardless of who it is). Also, it amazes me how gullible some people on this forum are. They believe everything they read.

Like you said, it took me less than a minute to find out this was not true and took another minute to get the transcript from the Meet the Press show in question.

And he refused to wear the pin. The point is we ( and I mean reps cons whatever) don't need to make up a story. The facts speak for themselves. He embarrasses himself and the nation all on his own. He doesn't need our help. In this cases someone took some facts added someone else's satire and made a believable story, because WE want to believe it.

And my only point is to do a quick check before you post something, or forward on an email or whatever. It just makes us look bad when they prove us wrong

I'll give you an Amen also. Just looking back 16 years. Here's what the Republicans came up with for candidates. 1996 Bob Dole (had no chance of winning against Clinton. Then 2000 we nominated GW Bush (if he was a conservative, than I must be 100 miles to the right), in other words he was nothing more than a RINO and a disaster at that.

Then in 2008, our crowning moment, John McCain. Speaking of RINOs, he was the poster child for RINOs. He called himself a Maverick, yeah right. Again the Republicans put up a candidate who had no chance of winning and at the time, wasn't even liked by the Republican party because he sided with the left more than the right.

Neither party has represented the best interests of the Nation or its citizens since the late fifties, or into the early sixties. Both are nothing but SHILLS for all of the special interest groups that make the politicians uber-wealthy through kick backs, insider trading, the astronomical ammounts of money that they get from speeches, and who knows how much under the table money they receive. We have wars that never end, a tax code that's used as a weapon, jobs that disappeared. Yet both the Democrats and the Republicans who claim to be trying to fix the problem, fix nothing but only add to their personal wealth at the expense of its citizenry and the country. For my 2 cents worth the last decent candidates either party fielded was Harry Truman for the Democrats, and Ronald Regan for the Republicans. Maybe with Romney we might have a slight glimmer of hope, but I AIN"T HOLDIN' MY BREATH, I fear too much damage has already been done.
