Its not bad. Do you need to D/T holes for your base? the mounts line up nice and easy

i am trying to avoid drilling and tapping for a base.
i thought maybe the 301 weaver would solve that
problem. if it is good enough.

Then I would strongly encourage you to D/T it and mount it up right. The .44 mag will shoot a pin on loose in short order and possibly ruin the scope. Might get away with it on a .357 in the SBH because they are heavy, but a .44 mag will need to be D/T for sure.

I speak from experience. I thought I could get away with a clamp on mount for my .480 ruger. destroyed a scope and 2 red dot sights, not to mention marred the hell out of the top of my revolver from the base walking around, before i got wise and did it right.

You buy the mount and the hardware and take it to a good smith. Most smiths charge around 15 - 20 bucks a hole to D/T. And trust me its money well spent.
