I bought this pistol a few weeks ago and scene I sent the postal money order He disappeared. The phone number I talked to him on is a no answer, will not return emails. If something has gone wrong in his life I understand. I would like an call back.
If anyone knows him, I could use the help.

From. What I can tell, this guy made one post after joining this forum a short time ago...I'd say it would take a miracle for you and the who knows how many other suckers ever hear from him...thats what PayPal is for....sorry but it don't look too legit...

When I originally saw that gun for sale on the forum I noticed that was his one and only post. Slowbird22 shows no state of origin, no friends, nothing. I immediately saw a big red flag. Buyer beware. Good luck with that.

I seriously doubt anyone here has ever heard of the guy.
If you sent him a Postal Money Order, contact your Post Office.
Your seller could easily be breaking bricks in a Federal Pen if he/she gets caught.

Call the post office and let them do thier job. It's one of the great things about paying taxes.

The IP address is : 69.31.101.104

The location is Chicago,Il. Another search of the same IP# showed Ca. between LA and Long Beach.

This is why we have the warning in that forum " Beware of Sellers with less than 50 posts".

Contact your local Postal Inspector with your money order # and good luck.

Also, Google slowbird22.

He is on several gun forums and maybe you should contact them as they may all have some different info on him.

Also always GOOGLE at your own risk, there are more bad link hazards now than bad spam posts...that is a fact!

Plus FB and Twitter are getting more dangerous.

I did google him and came up with a bunch of one-hit-wonder postings with guns for sale using factory or other people's pics passing it along as his own.

Sincerest sympathies for you dhenry. This is certainly not how Id have you come to know TFF. This guys an obvious scammer that slipped thru the cracks. I have been scammed before so I can sincerely relate to your case here. scammers tell you everything you want to hear, earn your trust, then split with your money.

Couldnt agree more, and i wouldnt mind seeing a rule implemented in the buy sell trade forum restricting its use to legit TFFers. (i.e. min. post count/contributor/sponsor)

And i learned from my scamming spring of 2010. Dont buy nuttn you cant hold in your hand first. unless you know personally and completely trust the person youre buying it from.

So what was the phone # you have on him?
And what was the address you sent the money to?
What was the name you made the money order out to?
I bet someone here is in the same area and could check it out for you to see if it a real address or if that person is even in the phone book.Or even if they have herd of him.Or the local LEO could check it out.

What can be done with the IP address?
Can you get the address of ware the person is with it?
Or any info. from it?
I do not know much about it and I am just wondering.

With an IP address you can determine where the user is, or was, at the time of the post. Of course he could have been using the free wifi down at the coffee shop, or at the public library.

I must say you are being awfully nice about losing that much money, but your attitude shows your own character dhenry. Being that so much money is involved and that his transactions cross state lines, I think the FBI might be interested in chatting with this "bird". I'd suggest you take the info Shooter 45 provided and contact your nearest FBI field office.
