Sealed Primers for Carry Rounds - The Firearms Forum

I seal my primers with nail polish when I load fresh rounds for carry
or home defense or storage.
I use a liberal [hate that word] amount when brushing it on the
head of the brass, making sure it fills the crevice around the primer,
then just wipe/blot it off on a flat paper towel to remove the excess.
Many of our home defense guns that stay loaded are also ones that we shoot regularly, so the rounds get handled anytime we switch to practice/plinking rounds. I think this sealing will help prevent any body oils or contaminant from fouling the primer, at least I make an effort to prevent that.
Occasionally, we shoot the SD loads, and just make more, to rotate stock.
These pics are our .32 H&R Magnum rounds. Starline brass and Berry's plated
83grain HollowBase WadCutter......but for SD loads, I flip them backwards.
Look at that hollow-point !!! Yet still a cavity to catch the gas when fired as opposed to just a flat surface. Accurate ?????

You see both ends of the HBWC in the pic with four projectiles.
Currently, we are running these around 1000fps in a 3"bbl......no recoil [felt]
and you should see the expansion.

I never bother with sealing the primers. If the pocket is as it should be the new primer will seal itself as it presses into a slightly too small hole. such is one of the better qualities of brass. Once the primer pockets loosen up from excessive use or over pressure, a sealer would be necessary.

Those are some sweet HD rounds Ozo. I use the same in .38 spec and .357 mag.

I think I remember seeing midway having PP sealer.. hmm.. gott ago look now..

The latest caliber or gear is no substitute for experience and skill. Rifles and cartridges don't make hits -- shooters do. Fact of life: After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!
