Default My neighbor just got into the 1911 club

When I was over at my next door neighbor's (Ted) house last night working on his reloading problem, we talked about a lot of guns. He said that he was somewhat interested in a 1911 so I told him about a couple of mine. He seemed the most interested in the features on the Taurus so he asked me to go over to the local gun store with him today.

The shop had a used Taurus for $425 but it had a few scratches on it. Ted asked about the price of getting a new one ordered and was told between $550 to $699 according to what he wanted. While we were wondering around, the young man who works there part time came in. He and Ted got to talking 1911s and the young fellow told him that he had just gotten a used Kimber in yesterday. The Kimber looked like it had never been fired, they were asking $769 for it. The young man was a great salesman cause Ted put it on law-away.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.....author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

As many 1911s as I have, I dont have and have never had a kimber. The reviews are so up and down I am not really sure what to think. They spend alot on advertisement I will say that. On the back of every gun mag is pics of kimbers. Anyhow, good for him. He will finally get to shoot a real gun.

Double D,
,
I have six Kimbers and all have done what they were designed to do. The only one I don't like is the 3" Ultra model in .45 acp. Too much recoil for me but a beautiful pistol. I have had no trouble from any of them. Sig make a very nice 1911 and my friend has one that I shoot,it feels and shoots great. Try a kimber of a sig 1911 and you will be happy. One of these years I am going to get a Les Bear or Bill Wilson just for giggles
