Saw this on Jalopnik. This is what gives LEOs a bad name with public. Just sad. The kid acted like a jerk but was within his rights. I hope this cop gets busted.

Cops arrest man for taking a video of a scuffle
Cops arrest WTF Magazine owner for Attempted murder for having taken video of other people's scuffle. Victims have family friends that are cops. First amendment thrown out. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c55_1340674392 this one just sucks cops protecting family by hanging others Iraq War vet faces 10 years in prison after photographing police http://rt.com/usa/news/texas-faces-years-recording-692/ A 34-year-old Iraqi War veteran is facing ten years behind bars after photographing police officers in Austin, Texas that he says were mistreating a woman during a routine arrest on New Year’s Eve. Antonio Buehler was pumping gas on December 31, 2011 when he witnessed officers with the Austin Police Department attempt to detain a woman under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at a fueling station. By the end of the evening, though, Buehler also found himself being apprehended by authorities. "I saw a woman getting assaulted by the police. It looked like police abuse, and I decided to speak up and take pictures. I think that is every person's right,” Buehler told Austin’s KVUE News earlier this year. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=069_1340685369 before the gun laws here changed we had some terrible bad cops , i dunno if that was the plan , but the good ones where leaving in droves it got that bad .. looks like your heading that way too ... In this day, and time, there is so much that happens that makes the news. Every one has a camera, or cam corder. News from any where in the world is broadcast into your home on a daily basis, either on TV or on your computer, and usually within the hour. Big Brother is watching you, and Big Brother is protected by the police state we all live in. Remember that an LEO's job is not to protect, and serve! There have BEEN OVER 10 various supreme and state court cases the individual has never won. Notably, the Supreme Court STATED about the responsibility of police for the security of your family and loved ones is "You, and only you, are responsible for your security and the security of your family and loved ones". That was the essence of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in the early 1980's when they ruled that the police do not have a duty to protect you as an individual, but to protect society as a whole. "To protect society as a whole", are there any limits to this statement?

I did. They were playing chicken with the cop car, driving into on coming traffic, wreckless operation, speeding, endangerment of others on the road, failure to maintain contol, pulling off the side of the road to score dope.

Intentionally interferring with the travel of a police vehicle takes the cake. The bikers' conduct was brazen. What if that cop had been enroute to an emergency.
OK, I'll agree taking the one bikers helmet cam the way it was done was a violation of his constitutional rights, but then again, the cop had sufficient reason to arrest him for being a part of this fiasco. Then he would have gotten access to the cam legally. I've seen similar stuff going on around here. It must be a new fad. One day a group of bikers on crotch rockets were buzzing around here for a couple hours. At one point I hear them coming down this residential street and look out my window. There is a pick up truck with a guy in back with a camera, followed by about 8-10 guys on bikes riding crazy and doing wheelies. Sorry the city streets ain't Hollywood and peoples lives are endangered by this reckless conduct. In the above incident the police should have set up roadblocks (with spike strips) and arrested the entire bunch. Then a judge should revoke their motorcycle endorsements for a good long time after they spent about 60 days in jail..

Wait...Cancel the above. The first time around I didn't catchg the fact that this confiscation and arrest was a totally seperate incident later in the day. There I go again, getting my facts mixed up. I blame it on attention deficit disorder.

no worries you read the news story and it was meant to make it look the same , but note
the cop involved... his car was the only car that did not have a dash cam working .. and the biker he arrested had nothing illegal on the video he had |

I haven't heard if there have been any repercussions for the officer involved. Keep your ear to the ground. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I can understand the cops being upset. but that dosen't mean they can trample a mans rights.
