Default 1873 Winchester

I have a 1873 Winchester in really good condition, 38 cal. serial # 190 805 B
Kings Improvement March 1866 Oct. 1860 stamped on the barrel.
any idea of it`s worth ???

I looked on a website with production dates and it indicated 1885. I presume the .38 caliber is .38-40. If it is in decent shape, I suspect it is worth several thousand dollars. I wouldn’t recommend shooting it much. It is too valuable and the metal at that time was a bit soft. If you want a ’73 to shoot, consider an Italian clone.

Hello row,

The value is determined by two things; (1) The graded condition, and (2) the specific configuration of the gun. In order to assess either, I will need to see several clear detailed pictures of the gun. It could be a $700 "beater" parts gun, or it could potentially be worth $10K+.

It is an 1885 vintage gun, and the cartridge is the 38 W.C.F. If the rifle is in good mechanical condition, it can safely handle any modern factory loaded 38-40 ammo.
