Default Hornady AP LNL Crimp

Having watched the video, read the instructions, and read several manuals....I am still struggling with knowing how much crimp I have placed on my .40 rounds. I understand the concept of COL, however am concerned I may not be crimping far enough down the casing.

Please advise on how to ensure I am crimping correctly.

Default Re: Hornady AP LNL Crimp

Are you using the Hornady TC die? A standard answer would be to raise the shellplate fully with uncrimped cartrige you just previously seated the bullet into the crimp die, turn the die downward until you feel contact, lower the shellplate (raisenthe ram) and add 1/2 turn down to the crimp die.
