I love to do some Dirt- Fishing. It's a hobby that is almost as controlled as firearms. There are alot of people who consider themselves authorities in the area and that John-Q should be banned from doing it for the children. It is great fun, excercise and very helpful alot of times.

But.....being almost 70,,,,,the eyes ain't what they were....
and priorities change along with the 'will power' to start large projects anymore...[the 21 drawer chest was a 2yr+ ordeal]......like the 1yr+ brainstorm of building a 'bank vault' for a gun cabinet.....'er....business file storage...... ![]() ![]() The reloading and shooting......NOT a hobby.... it's a friggin' necessity !! ![]()

Not to be fooled.....not so much 'old school' hand carving......
power tools....!!!!! YEAH ! Dremel with veining bits.....still articulate and time consuming... I love steaming and bending wood....and inlays..... Had a 10yr 'running' advertisement in New Yorker magazine for my Taos Beds [kits] when I had my office/shop in the Old Santa Fe railroad station SF, NM.......damn, those were some good 'ole simple great wonderful days..... [Side Note: Speaking of politicians and WTF today......I leased the railroad station from Senator Alex Martinez [in charge of historical bldgs there at that time.....what a f'ing great and stand-up guy.....miss them days !!!!]

Not that it really matters t-man.....
the 18 'upper' drawers are separate....they actually sit on a 'coffin' of drawers, actually an after-thought, to not only raise it up some, but basically for sheet/blanket storage. I thank you for your kind words......weren't too many of them around during it's fruition....as you might imagine. [We going to eat ?--No, I'm working on.....You going with me.....no, I'm..... When you gonna....?, Can't.....I'm......for over 2yrs....] Oh....I might add..... MamaOzo has no problem if I spend time re-loading what she loves to shoot..... as long as I have all she wants....and she never runs out..... but I don't mind.....I still like her....and we have been married over 700 years !!!!!

Ozo that is some amazing craftsmanship! When did you have time to mess around with track and field?

*chuckle* .... I'm retired , everything I do ( almost ) is a hobby.
My favorites are my horses ( Tenn. Walkers ), firearms, fencing ( saber ), and target archery.

Also...the credit must go to ones that came before me.... and had enough patience and tolerance with me..... to pass on the knowledge that was given to them ! I will guarantee you that I wasn't born with even the knowledge of how to wipe my own ass. Imagine the absolute skill it takes to build the same..... but with non-motorized tools....awesome !!!!

Only hobbies I have besides shooting is hunting, fishing, and music. Music coming in second right behind shooting. I play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, mallet percussion (xylophone, bells, etc
, tympani (tuning drums), marching bass drum, marching snare, and auxiliary percussion (gong, crash cymbals, etc . some people tell me I got carried away when learning new instruments.

I do a lot of things, but most of them come and go. Chatting on here is a big one.
Shooting, reloading, backpacking, wood working (but nothing like Ozo), canoeing. Recently started working on an '86 Ford Bronco, though it's not going to be a real restoration. Just making it work... basically. Fantasy sports (baseball is the one I really like, but I play football too). Try to keep up with pro baseball and college basketball; the seasons only overlap about 2 weeks for the whole year, so it's rarely double duty. I keep busy.

I'm pretty sure that it's a law that when you're out with your metal detector, you are required to be wearing sandals with black socks, plaid or cut-off jean shorts, a straw hat, and a shirt that says "Ask me about my grandchildren" !
I want a picture !!! |

I have a 3 year old and a five year old. Do they count as a hobby?
![]() I used to try my hand at woodworking, but never really got anywhere. Wait, does TFF count as a hobby? ![]()

I have only three hobbies after guns
1.) Keeping the wife happy. 2.) Enjoying good food and spirits with family and friends. 3.) Writing.

When I'm not shooting I am racing AutoX (with my wife) or Open track. I Drive a 2010 MINI Cooper S. She Drives a 2008 Subaru WRX.
Vid of the MINI (Bad audio so I dropped music on it; skip to 2:20 to see me catch and pass a Lotus Exige) Vid of MINI @ SoW Shot from the Cobra's perspective. Watch the intro text then fast forward to 1:50 to see the action. Messing with a buddy in a 2003 Mustang Cobra Couple of Pics (I know these show NV plates; I moved to TX this year): On Track: ![]() At AutoX: ![]() Firearms would be my "cheaper" hobby. ![]() Last edited by Redbeard; 07-01-2012 at 01:36 AM.. |
