The black matte finish S&W uses is unique to any
finish I have seen.....but I am old, and don't see as well as I used to. But I always end up with the chore/duty to clean what we shoot, seems like a good trade/off for her stickin' around and tolerating me.....and allowing me to cook for her and clean the house...... When I do have the honor of 'sprucing-them-up' I notice a very distinct difference in the revolvers we have with the S&W black matte finish.....hardly any powder residue.....not just visible to the eye.... but on clean micro-fiber towels [yellow, green, blue], there is almost NO discoloration from residue of any sort..... The finish looks like some kind of 'powder coat' but then again, no powder coat I am familiar with. [Maybe it is a Tesla or extra-terrestrial composite that I obviously would not be familiar with. ![]() ]My 'first encounter'was with my S&W 67-5 F-Comp Performance Center .38+P and I have been tickled ever since......how in the hell can a gun not-get-dirty.......after several hundred rounds ???? We have concluded.....if at all possible, and we can afford it, and Smith has it available in this finish....it's worth it ! M67-5 F Comp below
