as sone may know i love music and especially in church

its a background thing , Mennonite cross church of england

but the pre soviet Russian church songs and even the post soviet period before stalin cracked on the Churches . was wonderful

jack, have you ever listened to Gregorian chants? After listening to your first link, I'm certain you'd enjoy them.

i've a lot of gregorian and bahimian ( nth Croatia Serbia bosnia etc ) chants

do like the old russian orthodox ones as well ..

and the byzantine stuff sting has been working on , just beautiful , like a artwork but from song ..

Spasiba Jack,,My Granparents were Russian Orthadox ,,I remember many times as a young boy going to celebrate Russian Easter and Christmas with my Granparents,,at St Georges on Wood St in Chicago,also remember a group of Choir members coming over to my grandparents house to give it a Holiday Blessing,,,the sound and Harmony was strong but beautiful

went to a small church north of Novosibirsk, Siberia , half the church was filled with the choir!!

amazing .. same story in the east village outside magnetogorsk, folks came from miles round to attend cause of the Choir .. Faith is rebuilding the regional area's in Russia today

St. Kilda is a hauntingly beautiful tune. Maori Melody? Not sure of the origin of that tune.

The untrained congregation recordings are just that, but the choir ones are fairly good. A little weak on the bass part of the music.
