223 Load - The Firearms Forum

I need to get a good 223 load for a rifle..... Any suggestions?

Well are you reloading or buying ammo?

What are you shooting it in (IE AR, boltaction)

What are you shooting at (IE targets, Varmints, Deer, Humans...)

My 223 load for my Rem 700VLS is a lot different than my 223 load for my RRA Predator Pursuit Rifle.

Rifle: Browning X-Bolt Varmint Stalker

Target: 52 grain Sierra Matchking=26.1 grain H335- Federal 205M primer

Varmint: 50 grain Hornady Vmax - 25.1 grain H335-Feder 205M primer

Both give me consistent sub MOA groups at 100 yards, with the Matchking being the most accurate.

that could take some time to determine.
you can have to rifles the same, and what one likes the other may not.
if you are buying ammo, buy a box of each manufacturer and try it. that will at least give you some idea if your rifle likes remington, winchester,or pmc etc.
then if you reload you will know , lets say your rifle likes remington that you can try different weight bullets and then different powders

Im going to shoot deer with it and i was gonna reload my own brass

40 Grain Bullet with 27.7 grains of CFE-223 powder for my Weatherby Vanguard.

55 grain bullet with 25 grains of Varget for my AR.

For deer. 53 gr Barnes TSX and 25.5 gr IMR 4895. I developed it in a DPMS lo pro 16" and it was sub MOA, it also shoots sub MOA in my FILs rem 700 XCR. And since its a rather slow powder for the .223 its a pretty cool burning load, and very consistent.

Prolly so. but thats a good load regardless. One of those chocolate ice cream loads every rifle seems to like.
