Friend from Russia is working in the US, found this Russian Orthodox Church in Texas and sent me the link
If you've seen it in Latin or the modern in Russian here is it in english and it'll explain why the other two versions sound like a choir singing to a machine gun tune Orthodox Liturgy - The Great Litany http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coDY-...ayer_embedded#!

Rapping?
![]() Beautiful, jack. Chanting a prayer, with a choir in the background. I'd like to attend once, to hear it in person.

That comment of mine was probably not in good taste. I just never did get into that sing-song chanting that RC priests and some other demoninations do, but I should have shown respect for how others worship God.

Wow, Jack, that is beautiful!
I am asuming that the solo part was being sung by one of the priests in the back? I couldn't spot who - The whole thing reminded me very much of the Jewish worship service we attended some months ago - - Thank you!

I decided to go 'solo' right after Latin was dropped and English was adopted. I thought it was a terrible thing to do.

In my previous comments I said I was never much into the "sing-song chanting" that priests do. That's something I was never exposed to in church growing up, and it just sounded weird to me. But, I thought the harmony of the choir was beatiful.
However, I must confess that I've felt drawn to that website to listen to it over and over. There's something about it, and yes even the priests part that seems to create in you a worshipful/prayerfull attitude and with it a kind of inner peace. (I don't know if that's pagan or not )Anyway, when at the site I noticed the list of various other Orthodox church liturgies, and I gotta tell you those Orthodox churches have some of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

traveling around siberia and kamchatka i found the same , its not like our churches here where folks mouths move and not much comes out , there they all do their best
theres a sign in a church south of norilsk God loves to listen to the faithful .. and with their voices i can see why |
