just a thought Rocket what about going to the range or a public shooting area ion the middle of the day. around here when i do that it's usaly deserted. Maybe you can invite some one you are comfterbul with. and just add one person each time you think you are ready for the next person. just a thought.

This is what we did with our foster daughter. took 3 years but we can now take her anywher. she used to have massive melt downs. when ever she went around groups of people.
And she even looks forwerd to going places now.

Dale
I know we talked about it in PMs So I will say it here.
I was 47 before I was tested(I am 56 now) and found out I was not stupid but instead had Dyslexia.
When I was in school they did not even know about this.(this was the days that we learned to dive under our desk for bomb scares).
I have a different type of dyslexia then you.My problem is in the reading of words I ether don't see the word the same or see it backwards. When I was tested 10 years ago I had a 8th grade reading level. You said you had a collage level reading when you were very young.
Well The only book I think I ever read was J.R. Tolken trilage (the hobbit and the rest of his books)I was teased all the time ended up dropping out to join the USMC.Even my dad would say "Your mother drank to much when she was carrying you you are dumb s###"
The reason I am saying this is to say that your young one is 7 if they find out now that she has a problem now they can work with her and teach her other ways to deal with it they are on top of it now they have extra courses and people that will work with her so she can overcome the problem.Unlike me who did not find out intill it was to late.
She will be OK. IF SHE HAS IT!
And if she does you can learn with her TOGETHER you can learn how to over come this.Remember I was alone, no help no one else to turn to. She has you. Someone who understands someone who can say I UNDERSTAND!.
That is a very BIG thing.
You said "i can not help her" THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!!
I hate to tell you how many times I said I wish someone could understand that is was not my fault.
Someone I could talk to, someone to say it's OK.
I have 2 kids they are in there upper 30s the whole time they were in school I could not help them and I did not know why just knew what I was told "that I was stupid".
SHE HAS YOU! and together you will get it done!
My kind of dyslexia kept me from reading witch inturn kept me from spelling correctly. Sense I have been on TFF I have been tought about spell check(I think it was Jack that told me how to use it) And posting has helped me spell better.
So there is a end to the hell I am getting better.(even my grand daughter knows about it and helps me spell)and she is 13.
Your little lady will be OK she has you and people who are aware of Dyslexia and have ways to help her now.
Stay calm, stay cool and stay here!
Remember the words"I understand and it's not your fault" can be the hardest thing for you to say but the best thing she can hear.
Mike

I wright numbers backwards. But i dont give 2 craps about it! My spelling stinks as most of you all here know. I never was that good at spelling. I spell it the way i here all the letters and most of the time i miss them silent ones. The other sad thing is i did learn to type in high school but i still peck at the keys. So it is what it is and if others dont like it i dont care. Its who i am! You eather like me or you dont. So i am shure that i have a few forms of this Dyslexia. I dont judge a book by its cover. So i will not judge you or anyone here on the board.

I come form a long line of folks that suffer from dyslexia, and I have it too! Like goofy said, they didn't know about this condition back when I was young, you were just stupid. I'm also a recovering alcoholic. I heard another member of AA state one time that thru AA he had discovered that he had 999 character defects. He said that the inscription on his tomb stone would read: " Thru AA I discovered that I had 999 character defects, and when I died, I was working on all 999 of them". Our defects will never go away, but if we are aware of them, we forge ahead, and we can make do!

It is greatly effected by stress level.
By myself, the sights are quite steady.
With a couple people I know, I have to work at it a bit.
In front of a dozen strangers, I am likely to miss the whole darned target.
Competition is out of the question.

Funny, but when there is actual DANGER present, it is gone completely; I am steady as a rock -
STRANGE condition indeed.
My Dr. said when I can't deal with it any longer, there are newer med's we can try.
I am a minimalist, though. I'd rather eat with chopsticks than take pills to eat with a fork -
LOL!!

This harassment that goes back and fourth keeps me cracking up. Sometimes I suddenly see a post slamming me and it totally catches me off guard.

Why should it catch you off guard? You should be expecting it at every turn....!

And what do you mean by it "keeps me cracking up?" We thought that was a long ago event......

Some things you can't shield the kids from. In those cases, just walk with them. I'll bet that is what you are already doing. Phillipians 4:13- I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.

geds, I have determined that my master plan will involve the wife and I meeting your wife and you, and going out for some ice cream and having some darned good laughs. Maybe get you drunk and take you out for a pedicure with the wives too and get some pics.

That might work.

My buddy tommy had the best practical joke ever.
one day he thought he would have fun trying to embares us so he started mooning everyone. He then started walking around with his pants and underwear half down so you could se half his but. IE: plumers crack, So when he kept pointing his butt at me, I flicked my cigar it him. Gess where the hot cheery fell of and ended up at?
Right down the crack.
He jumped and hollerd even more so becouse i refused to giive up my drink so he could poot it out.

So to get even one night. he decided to take a habinaro pepper slice and rub it around the top of my beer bottle.
Man my lip burned for hrs.
I recamend the pepper not the cigar.

Threats...threats....more threats......

I wouldn't mind having ice cream with your wife and my wife, but I'm a little concerned about you trying to get me drunk with ice cream...? Maybe the ice cream you eat out there is different than what we get in these parts. We generally try to milk our cows BEFORE it ferments.....

Use google chrome. It has a spell checker. Right click the misspelled word and up pops corrections that MAY work...

I had two misspelled words here and it corrected them both for me.

Dyslexia is sometimes both a curse and a blessing.

It takes many forms. Dyslexic person's brains do not process information like those of so called "normal persons". This allowed Einstein to formulate his theories about physics that changed the world, and race car driver Jackie Stewart to become a living legend in his own time.

No two persons are exactly the same. Persons afflicted (or gifted) with dyslexia have problems with reading and writing, and left and right, and other things; but are often gifted at the genius level in areas that most "normal persons" struggle with.
