Default 1873 winchester

I got an auction to go to tomorrow and they have one item listed as an 1873 winchester 32wcf,,,serial number 10345P is that a misprint should it be 10345B????

It is a misprint, but how I don't know. They could have read a number as a "P".

Hello,

It is surely a misprint but it is also not a "B". If so then the numeric serial number would be 10345 and correspond to production during 1876 when the Model 1873 was only being produced in 44 WCF. The 32 WCF cartridge was not offered in the Model 1873 until 1882 which corresponds the SN range of 81000 to 107500. My guess is that the correct serial number was 103450 since the 0 is above the letter P on the keyboard and then the SN and caliber fit the correct time frame.
