Default IRISH MUSIC

I enjoy Irish music which can be either sad or barroom raucus. This is one of my favorites. My wife (Non-Irish) is quick to point out: "no wonder you Irish drink so much...your music can be sooooo sad".

Though this particular song is about the famine in the 1840's, it was written by Pete St. John in the mid 1970's. Regardless of your convictions, 'tis a truly beautiful song as presented by the Irish Tenors (note the beautiful picture of the young lass with tears on her cheeks at the beginning).

I present THE FIELDS OF ATHENRY for your enjoyment.

The Indians along the Yukon play their own version of Irish/Scotch fiddle music, replaced the words with their own and the songs changed with time also. Good stuff in the summer. Sometimes, I'll drag the Twin Reverb down facing the river and crank her up with music by local Native fiddlers. Indians are pretty good dancers, red river jig style. I've also learned all the local dances, Rabbit Dance, Duck Dance, 8 Couple, ect.

The Irish influence here was massive , this is considered traditional Australian Bushmans music and one of my favorites ( especially after a few with mates , dont do karioky (sp?) but we get a few guitars a banjo fiddle and crate drums going often )
