Smile Thanks JLA

I just wanted to say THANKS to josh for the TFF patch
He included his card and I gave him a call. It's always nice to put a voice to the typing.
He is a man who uses the word SIR. This is something that you do not here that often anymore one of the things that catches my attention.
I am 56 almost 57 so this is said with respect.
The young of today seems like they do not use Sir in there conversation(Except when they are in trouble or want something) and it is always nice to here it.(I am not saying you are young Josh)just that you are part of a ME generation (people in there 30s)
So it always a sign of respect and good strong upbringing when Sir is used.A sign of a good man.
It was a short conversation (I had a costumer come in) so I had to cut it short.
Sorry Josh I look forward to talking when time is not limited.
But what he did do is hook me up with Helix on a job that a costumer needed done that is above me. I sent a pm to Helix and heard right back from him about it and is going to do it for me.
This is not the first time that Helix helped me out THANKS HELIX!!
And Jack made parts for me also.
Witch brings me to this.
If we can do something like make a list for all members to see what our members do(smithing). All the work that is needed on guns can be kept in the TFF family.I for one would rather send the work I can not do(due to lack of the proper equipment and knowledge) to someone I have talked to and know that there Quilty of work is very good then to send it to a co. outside of TFF that I know nothing about.
We here at TFF have different things that we do that are our specialty's.
I am into restoration and checkering(as you have seen) Others do custom work that I do not do.
So if we can keep the work within TFF WE ALL MAKE OUT GOOD!! We get very good work and keep each other making money.KEEPING IT IN THE TFF FAMILY.
What do you think?
Mike

sub parts , stuff no-one makes old disconnectors , extractors and such , springs , no worries ,

I think that sense we are all across the country(and across the ocean)that if someone needs some thing done they could find the closest to them to get the work done. And if it is a special job then we have each other to send it to.

Sounds like a great idea Goofy and to keep what work we can within TFF makes good sence. Good for everyone. Josh is a nice guy, (I just thought he was an older gentleman... about retirement age or so?)

Josh is a old soul. (But not that old.) He's younger than me but has the work ethic and maturity of someone much older. For services, use Josh for load development. I send all my stuff to him for that and he's better then anyone I have found. I'm all for listing services we do if others find it OK. I always used TFF as a way to help people and get help if needed, not as a means of advertising and drumming up business on a public level but if it helps others, lets do it.

I too think its a hell of an idea, and like Helix I just want to help people out, even if I dont make a dime on the job. I think gunsmithing is a dying art and those of us that do it need to band together and keep our customers from going to the white collars for services. I wont hesitate to refer a job over if its something I am not equipped to accomplish, good lord knows I have transferred a good amount of work to Helix because he is a wizard on the lathe, and a master at the bluing tanks.

We all have our strengths for sure..

And youre very welcome for the patch Goofy.

Oh yeah, BTW, I am 28 yrs old Jim..

WOW! I remember songs that came out that year! Boy oh boy! Was that about the same time that vinal records were going out and caset tapes were the big thing to have? Oh ya! i remember you had to have a BOOM BOX! You were to carry it on your shoulder and blast it as loud as you could. If you had one you were the COOL dude! Here is just a small bit of the songs that us older ones were listening too when you were born. http://youtu.be/1kkPnvSJCFQ Roller skating rinks were on just about on every corner of town. Wow what a flash back! Sorry did not mean to side track.

JLA did an EXCELLENT job with my Springfield 1911 and I've been trying to recommend him to people wanting to get work done.

+1

Why it's a dying art? I think a lot of the guns coming out - like the Glock for example - are built in a way that it doesn't require gunsmith help to put new parts on it. I thought most if not all the parts are a true drop-in fit.

I still like a good 1911 though. Nothing I've found shoots as well.
