I have a mauser 98 8mm only proof marks I can find are on the bolt. I've searched all proof marking sites and parts books with no luck !!

That MIGHT be a UNIT symbol perhaps a bicycle or motorcycle unit?
What is that symbol on the bolt handle ? it looks like a V or a B???
