Yes, true we had the M14 but they aren't being issued as they were. The military needed to update them with collapsible stock for use with body armor, rails for lights, bi-pods, lasers and scopes and the cost to update them is high.

Those old guys with Garands also had grenades, and as my uncle put it, " I ain't walkin' into a schmeisser with my rifle if I can lob in a grenade!"
Not really feasible or desirable in your own home.

Never owned an M14, but picked this up yesterday & for 198.00 for a thousand rounds I'll be giving the AR a rest for a while.
