what model is my 1911???

ok i have a 1911 BUT the only markings on it is the
serial number. nothing else!! ..i'll attach a picture to help out.
i would like to know what model 1911 it is and what
its worth..it also came with a leather holster

The total lack of markings (other than serial) leads me to think kit gun or home assembled from after-market parts. Either that or some really heavy buffing and refinishing..

You mean who is the maker of my pistol, it is of course a 1911 model. But as deadin replied, it is either one that has been " scubed" or one built up from commercial parts. An expert could tell if any GI parts are used by various markings, I can't ( except for just a vary few parts ). The holster looks like a military holster made or issued after 1958, it was not issued with that gun.Even if it was one of the very rare North American .45s ( 100,000$ would buy a nice example ), it is now simply a 1911 type pistol with a value of 3 to 400.

Definitely a mixture of parts went into making that gun...it might be a decent shooter at 350-400.

The frame "might" be a scrubbed GI, but with that serial, I doubt it. The slide is definitely commercial of some ilk. (Slanted serrations)

I also thought the after market receivers were supposed to be marked with serial AND maker?????

And there in lies the mystery? I have read of people removing the roll markings ( for looks ) mostly on the Taurus 1911s, perhaps this is one, nice grips BTW

I have heard the BATFE does not like guns whose serial numbers have been removed. Is there a similar problem with guns with the maker's ID removed?

The frame appears to be cast, probably by Annonie Mouse Guns and Mousetraps, Inc., of Bongo Bongo. Without having any idea of the quality of the frame and slide, or how well it works, no one can really say if it is a shooter or not. I would take a pass. For not much more, you can buy a used gun with someone's name on it.

Gotta agree with Jim. I've got one I built 30 years ago. If someone offered it to me for sale, and I saw THIS brand of frame and THAT brand of slide and obvious GI internals, I'd be leery of it. Would have no idea if it was built by someone that knew what he was doing, or by Joey, the gunsmith with ten thumbs and five different sizes of hammers. And that's with parts with names on 'em. Un-named parts, so you don't know if they are made of ordnance steel or old railroad tracks, I wouldn't touch.

As to removal of the serial number, the law only addresses the serial number. But BATFE regs require that any gun/frame/receiver made here or imported has to have both the maker's/importer's name and a serial number. But some importers put the name on in very shallow letters precisely so it could be easily removed and a faker could put on some other name. Later regulations have depth requirements, etc., but I am sure the shady guys will get around what ever rules are written. (Isn't the definition of a crook someone who doesn't play by the rules?)

Well, it is a Model 1911A1 type frame; it is not from a real GI Model 1911A1 pistol.
