Default colt rebarrell back to 45c

hi, great site! The colt archive letter tells me that my 1893 ser#153xxx frontier six shooter started out as a 45c. I suspected as much because the finish was very differant on the barrel from the body. however all the serial numbers match on the frame. there was no number on the barrel. Even under the ejector. the markings frontier six shooter look to have been pressed in and not acid etched.

what kind of value does it have in present condition?
.
would it be worth it to rebarrel back to the 45 colt?

would I get any value out of the 44.40 barrel.

I would rather have a 45 colt.

This was a gift to me. kind of a christmas bonus.

thankyou for your input.

You would need a cylinder as well. I don't think it is worth anymore in 45 than in 44wcf. The numbers would not match if you found a 1st gen cylinder, so both configurations would be valued at about the same. Pick which one you would rather shoot, shoot nothing but black powder in the gun regardless of caliber. And light ones at that.

Colt SAA barrels were not numbered.
