Hello
Anyone have a Colt New Agent with the trench sights? I see that the Talo version comes with sights for the 9mm. Are the trench sights difficult to shoot?

I have the colt defender 45 that has the sights on it like the talo does. Basically the same gun but made of a different material. I dont know why they would want to make them with the trench sights. I personally wouldnt be interested in one. I guess they are good for anti snag but I like to have sights on my 1911s.

Thanks D
I agree, just got back from the gun shop & held the Colt with the trench sights. Not that crazy about it without the sights. I'm gonna go with the Talo version, 9mm. |

Alot of the carry guns today have little or no sights on them and are what I call "gut guns". I just prefer sights. I wouldnt want to talk you out of anything... That talo edition looks nice...

The trench sights are nice for a barrel that short
and a gun that nice, and for the reason you would have it. [that I have it, and bought purposely for that reason] The absolute smoothness of draw is 'always' guaranteed. It is NOT my range gun.....at least, not one of my 'go to' range guns....but is shot regularly....to stay in tune with it as a superb SD 1911 platform..... My reason is simple, and in my old feeble mind/way of thinking, that a scenario to protect myself in a dark environment, even with my Novak's, or my XS sights, or trijicon's.....I am not gonna spend any time drawing a bead on some asshole that wishes to harm me...... I want to rely on the most efficient means available to me, to trust my own practice/experience/skill to point and shoot and defer the danger confronting me in the most minimal amount of time..... It may be tenths of one hundredths of seconds difference in a small snag on the holster if I have [gun] sights that may snag or may not, but with trench sights.....there is no chance...to any nano degree. The hardest part to comprehend....to make the choice between the two aforementioned weapons, is that we, humans, are creatures of habit. We have determined that sights make us more accurate, therefore the higher quality sights we implore, the more accurate we become. Then we go shoot some our J-framed snubbies, find favor in one, start loving on her, and find we have achieved accuracy enough to boast about, and forget she 'ain't got no' adjustable fancy sights....... We all know this, we just some have forgotten.......[?] It ain't the gun.....It's the gunny.......!!!!!

I truly apologize for my 'long-winded, old fart ass-inine,
senile attempts' to convey any reality in a reply to what is being discussed, but I must say this, before any of you discount me absolutely....: I spent well over 3/4's of my shooting life believing that the only way to be accurate, if at all possible, with a hand gun, at any distance, versus using a rifle, was ONLY if the handgun had adjustable sights..........so I could get the gun to shoot the way I needed it to shoot......... I only wish to say ......and I was abruptly halted by my own realization ......that I hindered myself with that belief, that notion, that only if I adjusted the adjustable sights, would I be most accurate. In competition.....long yardage shots.....1000yd explosive targets...... you better believe it.......it takes EVERY edge, mentally AND physically to compete.....and win ! For indoor range......not any similarities. I spent a many year NOT shooting [buying, owning] some VERY nice handguns.........because they DID NOT HAVE sights on them.................... It ain't the gun........it's YOU.
