What the (bleep) are you doing? Running some kind of contest to see who can give the wrongest answer to a question with the least information?
Give ALL the information, post a picture, or don't bother posting at all. |

Just for fun, I guess a U.S. marked Ruger Mk I or maybe a High Standard.

I didn't know any 22/45's were bought by the government, but maybe they were.

Only Rugers were issued during the Viet Nam war with bull barrels. I believe they were issued to "tunnel rats." Ruger will supply at no cost a factory letter on such pistols which will only state that they were sold to a government agency, but they will not conjecture about what use they were intended for. These pistols were marked simply "US" with no periods. I sold one in 95% condition for $700, then at the very same gun show (Tulsa) I ran across one NIB for $800. I think these are realistic prices.

At this point, we don't even know what Meoffsky has. If he chooses not to provide pictures or any more information, we can't help him and more guessing is not productive.

OK, I'll continue. WW, how do you know it is not a High Standard USA H-D with the Navy bull barrel? And how do we know what the OP considers a "bull barrel"?

Jewell, you might want to start a new thread, titled something like "Seeking information about 32-20 Winchester 1873". You might want to ask specifically about anything you particularly would like to know, like age or value, and you will probably need some more pictures, particularly close-ups of the action, and of barrel markings.
Sorry to make it sound like so much work, but without more information, people can't tell you much of anything. The originator of the this thread did not say enough for anybody to tell him anything. Thanks for putting up pictures, and welcome to the Forum! |

I concede it could have been a US marked HS Military, but these are so rare that I didn't consider it a viable possibility.

A rather large number of guns were sold to Evaluators Ltd and many are now marked with USMC markings. My guess is that the Ruger Government model is the likely candidate. |

There's no such thing as a "Ruger Government Model".

Only two guns come to mind that for a "U.S. Govt model 22" with a bull barrel.
High Standard HD Military Ruger Government Target Model Neither of them is marked "U.S. Gov model" There ARE 1911's that come pretty close on the markings, but they are not bull barrel. The Umarex by Walther, imported and branded by Colt comes to mind. |
