What the (bleep) are you doing? Running some kind of contest to see who can give the wrongest answer to a question with the least information?

Give ALL the information, post a picture, or don't bother posting at all.

Just for fun, I guess a U.S. marked Ruger Mk I or maybe a High Standard.

You are unquestionably correct. But I guess the question is a bit frustrating because most of us really would like to help him.

Meoffsky - sorry for the intemperance; hope we can help you out.

That's the spirit, 195.

Now I'll take a flyer and say a Ruger 22/45, worth $275.

I didn't know any 22/45's were bought by the government, but maybe they were.

Only Rugers were issued during the Viet Nam war with bull barrels. I believe they were issued to "tunnel rats." Ruger will supply at no cost a factory letter on such pistols which will only state that they were sold to a government agency, but they will not conjecture about what use they were intended for. These pistols were marked simply "US" with no periods. I sold one in 95% condition for $700, then at the very same gun show (Tulsa) I ran across one NIB for $800. I think these are realistic prices.

At this point, we don't even know what Meoffsky has. If he chooses not to provide pictures or any more information, we can't help him and more guessing is not productive.

OK, I'll continue. WW, how do you know it is not a High Standard USA H-D with the Navy bull barrel? And how do we know what the OP considers a "bull barrel"?

Jewell, you might want to start a new thread, titled something like "Seeking information about 32-20 Winchester 1873". You might want to ask specifically about anything you particularly would like to know, like age or value, and you will probably need some more pictures, particularly close-ups of the action, and of barrel markings.

Sorry to make it sound like so much work, but without more information, people can't tell you much of anything. The originator of the this thread did not say enough for anybody to tell him anything.

Thanks for putting up pictures, and welcome to the Forum!

I concede it could have been a US marked HS Military, but these are so rare that I didn't consider it a viable possibility.

My research suggest that overall High Standard sold around 65,000 pistols to the U. S. Government. between May 1942 and January 1969 made in teh letter, hammer letter, lever letter, lever name, 100, 101, 102, 103, and 107 series. Some of these government contract guns are not likely to be described as having a bull barrel.

A rather large number of guns were sold to Evaluators Ltd and many are now marked with USMC markings.

My guess is that the Ruger Government model is the likely candidate.

There's no such thing as a "Ruger Government Model".

Dunno if you can read it in the pic but it says Government Target Model.

Don't take my word for it google it. Yeah you know it all but somehow this got misplaced. Don't worry it will turn up.
I think the only difference is the Government model has a 6 7/8 barrel.

Only two guns come to mind that for a "U.S. Govt model 22" with a bull barrel.

High Standard HD Military
Ruger Government Target Model

Neither of them is marked "U.S. Gov model"

There ARE 1911's that come pretty close on the markings, but
they are not bull barrel. The Umarex by Walther, imported and
branded by Colt comes to mind.
