Here's what I put on my 10/22: Green Mountain 19" heavy taper. The barrel is very accurate and falls within your price range.

My bull barrel Volquartsen barrel will shoot right along with my 17HM2 CZ Varmint gun and is not far behind my Anschutz Model 64 based silhouette 22. It also sports their laminated stock. My Volquartsenized 10/22 will shoot five shot 1/2 inch groups at 50 yds all day long if I do my part and may shoot better than that with a better shooter (??).
But be warned "Best" and "Cheap" don't go together. You get what you pay for. Volquartsen barrels are NOT cheap. But they MAY BE the best. LDBennett |

The best barrels out there is simple. In no order, you deside. These barrels will with club match ammo all shoot under 3/8 50 yard group. With a better ammo that can be cut again 25%
Kidd- http://www.coolguyguns.com/Barrels_c_8.html Clark Customs-http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/ F J Fedderson- http://www.1022rifle.com/information There are some that cost less or look purdier, and from time to time they shoot nearly as well as the 3 above but you are hopeing you get a good one. Then are are some used by serious bench/match shooters that cost way more. But the 2 above will not disapoint. Stocks?? purly your choice but check out Boyd's Stocks to. http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/Boyds-...fles-s/160.htm http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/BLAST-...-p/500-515.htm |

You are on your own for the barrel (length, profile and WEIGHT), my only suggestion would be to find a gunsmith who can help you determine what would fit before ordering a stock. My experience is that stocks are often bought for look and not comfort and fit that is important to accuracy. Try to figure the length of pull and what kind of balance you will need with the type of shooting you want to do. Heavy barrel guns are great for bench shooting, light tension barrels are better for carrying or 3 position shooting unless your rifle is balanced.
Just general suggestions. Last edited by CHW2021; 09-17-2012 at 05:01 PM.. |

one other thing,if you buy a thumbhole stock it limits who can shoot it.they come right hand left hand and ambi.if your right handed then the one for right hand shooters is best.but as i said,it limits who can shoot the gun.as far as the barrels you already have been given advice. old semperfi
