Thats some low mileage there. I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, my work truck is 10 months old and I just rolled 50k yesterday. Most of my seat time is paid, so bring on the miles!

When I bought the car at World Car Center I requested a low mileage car. He asked how much I'm looking to spend and I said $6000 cash total. He went to his computer and found this car for $5600. With T/T/L the total was $6200 and I said yea I can cover it. We went for a test drive and the car was solid and it's a semi-luxury that it has lots of comforts. I didn't ask about any other cars but wanted this one so I bought it.

I bought my daughter a Ford Taurus 5 years ago. It is a 2001 and had close to 100,000 on it then. I only paid $1000 from a friend. It's been smashed in the rear, front and side.
She still drives it every day. She loves it and won't give it up. It has to be the ugliest car in town.

I drive an 04 Toyota Matrix with 140k on it. Love that car runs strong doesn't burn oil. She is needing some new stuff like shocks and struts a timing belt to be safe. You know we have never done the breaks on her either and she still has a good 3/4" of pads left.

Ya, but the amazing thing here is that it rolled to an ever 90,000. What are the odds of that? Pretty cool IMO. Take that pic and frame it.

Sounds good guys, they just keep trucking.
![]() Gvw3, once your daughter's inside her car she don't see the dents outside, just the comforts inside. Of course she's not gonna let go of it. ![]() I can't brag about my MPG but it's a sweet ride. Quiet and comfy with a 3L V6 that's pretty peppy.

I just rolled over 227,000 on my 06 GMC 2500 this week. Miles will slow down on it after next week when I retire it for a while until my daughter starts driving it.

Engines had come a long way and they're built better nowadays. Anyone old enough will remember the smoking cars after 80,000 miles.

I had a 02 Taurus SEL that I sold with 171K miles on it and it only gave me one problem and that was a leak in the PCV tube. Only 90K on a 03? geeze maybe you should drive to more than just your mail box every now and then

not to be mean but I think i see a leak on your 3.0s timing cover gasket. or is that coming from a cracked coolant bottle? the other day I even heard your front sway bar links clunking. can you tell I know a thing or two about a Taurus?
I drive a 2000 Accord 2.3 vtec. 197,000 and still runs like new. even has all the original chassis parts. I'm waiting for it to hit 200K then I'm taking pics. the best part is it gets 37mpg and I paid $50 for it.

Toyota fleet of mine: '00 Tacoma 173k, '93 4Runner 170k, '08 Sequoia 66k, and the good ole Honda accord '97 at a whoppin 139k woo hoo! When you have too many cars, the mileage stays fairly low. Our sequoia had 58k when we bought it, fairly high for a 3 1/2 year old car.
Toyota's aren't even broken in yet until they hit 100k, hahaha. at about 250-300k miles, redo the headgaskets and go another 250k. I do love when the mileage turns over a big number like that, I love seeing it hit a new thousand, ten thousand and higher. I will take a picture anytime anything rolls over 200 or 300k! The wife just looks at me funny, but when we're driving and I turn over a fresh 1000 miles, I stare at it for a while.

Yep, rings gone, and in desperate need of a timing chain/gear. Really odd to see such an even number just as you pull into the drive! I have a '96 Ford Ranger that has about 220,000 miles on it, and it still does not leak, or burn, oil. I can tell that it don't have the pep that it once had, but it's still dependable! The only problem I have with it is that the milage odometer doesn't work any more, and neither does the fuel gauge. Both fixes will cost me around $500 each. It's cheaper to carry a gas can!

![]() I put ten gallons of gas in my car ($36) and my tripmeter shows 123 miles so far. I only get about 15-17 MPG so I got a few more miles to go.

Talking about the older cars needing overhauled when they only had 80,000 miles on them. One thing you need to remember is that back then a lot of dealers would turn the odometer back to show a car had low miles on it and bring more money. Those cars probably had well over 100,000 on them but odometer didn't show it. Now you can't turn the odometer back (illegal) because miliage is in the computer.

reminds me of the last time my wife rode with me in my f450... we both reset our odoms to track milage on fuel useage.. etc. we were heading to the coast to see the MIL, and the wife looked over at my odom and mentioned I had forgot to reset it on my last fill up, as I had a half tank fuel or so showing, and had 400 or so miles on the odom. then I reminded her the truck had a transfer tank in the bed and it's regular underslung torpedo tank...
sure it goes a long way.. but then it holds ALOT of fuel too.. ![]() |
