It could be the ammo "nose". Semi-auto .22's can be finicky. I have a couple that don't like lead-nosed hollow points, while they will shoot the Remington "golden" bullets.
Try a variety of ammo and see what works best for them. |

Can you clarify "won't chamber"? When you work the action is a round not stripping out of the magazine or does it jam?

When i go to shoot 1st round, don't know how to say this, instead of the 1st casing flying out and then the action? closing it does not close all the way and there is a round in there which i dump out and then everything is fine hope u can understand what i am trying to say?

u got what i was trying to say and its funny u mentioned the tube because it just seems tighter to me then it use to. I really did not look at ammo i dumped and i should have that was my fault will look if it happens again. I will clean everything again and see if it happens again. The orange part on the tube that pushes ammo down u don't have to put oil inside of that do u?

As to what to do next, my advice is to get the gun's manual out and disassemble that feed tube as far as your skill allows and clean it well. Also look at it closely to be sure there isn't a bend or a nick or kink anywhere. As far as lubricating the follower (orange thing in the tube) I don't own one, couple friends do so I'm pretty familiar with it, but not enough to know the proper procedure. I suggested the manual, for that answer too. |

That's definitely your problem. It explains as well, why it's only the very first round. Sounds like it should be a pretty straightforward solution. Good luck!

That's just another example of how every rifle is an individual. The follower spring is not working well it sounds like. If the pressure isn't right it can cause issues just like what you describe. There can be a hitch in your follower's function just at the point that it's pushing on the one round that won't feed. You can clean those followers but it sure isn't easy. If you can't get it to work by just cycling the spring back and forth with your hand you might try using a cleaning solvent. You'd need to use something made just for cleaning. I would probably pour or spray something like Hoppe's No. 9 or maybe some of their Semi-Auto Solvent. I would saturate the inside of the inner mag and let it sit for a while then sling out what I could (outside only of course) and then use an air hose to blow out what I couldn't sling out. It won't leave any residue of it's own but you'll want to get all the gunk out of the inside of the inner mag tube. I'd probably repeat that process 2 or 3 times then try it again. I'd probably let it dry a while first. Let it hang with the follower down so anything left can run out.
It's not easy to clean the inside of that follower though. You may need to get another inner mag. It is possible to take the inner mag apart and clean it but it's a tough thing to get done. If you're not comfortable with tricky operations get a gunsmith to do it. In fact I might consider just taking it to the gunsmith right off the bat if you don't have a compressor to blow out the inner mag tube or for whatever reason you may not want to do it yourself. A job like that would only cost about $10 or less at my gunsmith. Most of those guys know what they're doing really well but not all of them do. If anyone suggests using WD-40 I'd run. Seriously, don't try that. You'll create more problems instead of fixing this one.Last edited by CJ_56; 10-13-2012 at 01:41 AM.. |

The end of the tube is crimped to hold the follower. As CJ said get some cleaner spray inside and let it dry. Over time little particles of lead can build up.

one other thing u may wish to check,,,
when u cleaned them did u clean the fireing pin slot ?? some times powder residue or brass particles get blown back into that area and will hang the fireing pin.. as it is inertia type some times wont retract all the way and can keep the next shot from fully rising and will jam. good luck,, these things are normally no problem but lil gremlins some times catch us |

![]() the bolt is the big silvery block, the fire pin in the middle of it. Make sure the firing pin can wiggle back and forth freely, NO OIL goes on the firing pin. The sides, you can. I don't like taking out the bolt of my 60 unless I have to. That spring is easy to bend... |
