Default Gun Owner's House From Newspaper's Gun Map Broken Into

A White Plains residence pinpointed on a controversial handgun permit database was burglarized Saturday, and the burglars’ target was the homeowner’s gun safe.
At least two burglars broke into a home on Davis Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday but were unsuccessful in an attempt to open the safe, which contained legally owned weapons, according to a law enforcement source. One suspect was taken into custody, the source said.

Sounds like the basis for a lawsuit against the paper and editors.

I agree also and I would be suing them for all damages as well as potential damages in the future. I'd also file criminal charges for accessory to burglary.

Freedom of the press guys, nothing will happen and I doubt they could find an Attorney to take the case.

Ever hear of The Privacy Act? Also, freedom of the press is limited as is freedom of speech. Inciting crime is not covered.

Unfortunately, what the paper did is not covered by the Privacy Act.

You're kidding right? You can find a lawyer to take any case. Especially one that will get him some publicity. Might even be able find one pro bono.

Actually, it's a violation of freedom of the press though. It is incitement to burglary and or violence. The guy who posted the publishers name and address on the net with her photo is a lawyer. I'd bet he'd take the case. His address was listed on the gun owners map too.

Sue, baby sue, make it so their great-great-great grandchildren will be in hoc over this. Take these slimey SOBs for everything they can get. Make a public example of them, find the biggest shyster lawyer you can find, and make them wish they'd never been born.

I think there are plenty of lawsuits coming, from different people and from different angles, Judhe Jeanine will probably even find cause to take action, the wreckless action of the fraud of a "newspaper" put people in danger, on different levels, they deserve to be baqnkrupted in court defending themselves at the very least, but then there would be nothing left to compensate the victims,
