going through some bits i got in a estate sale was a slip of old news paper used to line a suitcase
i noticed this ( i've darkened it up , parts where almost gone .. pity it was quite elegant in parts .. ) back when we where the lucky country and Poor old England was still paying off and recovering from WW1 and the depression and a dying ship trade and poor coal prices a pound then was 1/2 a weeks wages for a labourer , a tradesman might make 4 pound a week a Private in the Army Six bob a day ( $0:60 ) every day he was present for duty , rain hail war or not
