flashlight and sling!

I've got a sidesaddle shellholder and a buttstock shellholder on mine also. 8+1 mag capacity, plus 6 on the side and 7 on the stock.

flashlight is the most important I think, I put a coiled stretch cord pressure switch on mine and have it velcroed to the pump where your hand goes. used epoxy to glue the velcro strip on the pump.

You're screwed unless ya have the 590; that's the only SD shotgun they have with the pass thru barrel lug allowing tube extenders. That's why I sold my 500 predator and bought the 590, extra 3 rounds.

Well, not completely; they do make a 7 shot tube but you would need a new barrel also to work with it.

the 870 in my photo there has a 5 round extension and a 28" barrel, holds 9+1 now! a little long for a HD gun but it swings beautiful at the skeet range. The tube is a Choate I believe but there's tons of different brands of tube extenders.

Yeah youre kinda stuck with the 5 round capacity. the mav 88s are rebranded mossberg 500s and they have fixed capacity mags. the 590 has a rem 870 style mag tube that you can add extensions to.

You could try to find a mossberg 500 police with the 20" barrel. they have an 8 round fixed mag tube thats the same length as the barrel.

Flashlight as AA said already and plenty of spare shells at hand..

My 870 holds 18 rounds.. 6 in the tube and 6 on each side saddle. Thinkin in terms of 00 buck, thats essentially equivalent to 162 rounds of .32ACP fired in just a minute or two if necessary.

What brand are those shotgun slings with the round holders on the stock- it looks like a one piece setup?

these are all home made goodies, I have an industrial sewing machine and tons of fabric/materials. sorry, I cheat by having a 'gear business'! it's really just a an excuse to have tons of kit for myself without losing money spent on gear.

But there's plenty of stuff out there similar; the buttstock deal is two piece, I made the shell holder before the sling so it's two different pieces but could easily be made in one piece. Tactical tailor is a huge local vendor with lots of goodies, if I didn't make my own stuff i would buy their crap over anyone elses probably. LaRue tactical, BDS, and a bunch of other small companies out there that I would give my money to first though, just cause their small businesses.

A good set up shotty is the best for HD I think though, less over penetration but tons of energy on the target, not to mention huge selection/diversity of ammo.

The light I think is the most important mod/addition though, the other stuff is nice but the light will net you the biggest advantage IMO.

While I'm not big into accessorizing shotguns for SD, I dreamed of having the door breacher and the extended mag tube on my 590. Alas, it was not meant to be since the door breacher only comes on the 18" barrel and wouldnt work with the long mag tube.....

My question though, is why not? Makes sense to me. If you are going to waste a shell automatically while breaching(possibly 2), wouldnt you want more capacity?

IF I were to get another sling, Viking tactical makes some good ones. Thier adjustment is really good on them. We change rifles constantly and they have a nice cam setup that lets you adjust very easily. I wish I could just order some of the cams to make my own. Looks like the basic sling is ~$35. Not too bad.

I thought they might be "homemade" That is nice craftmanship. I have made a strap carrier for 440 rd 7.62 ammo cans but I HAND sowed the thing-ugly but workable
