Default Essex Gun Works double 12ga

Greetings,

I have an old double barrel shotgun with hidden hammers.

I believe it is a 12ga. The barrels are dime sized. There are no markings other than "Essex Gun Works" and a s/n "S16412" stamped inside on the barrel tang.

I would like to know the year of manufacture and if is usable with modern powder.

Thanks.

I'll put up photos when I get them.

Jim
