Default Interesting viewpoint

http://www.salon.com/2007/04/18/dems_and_guns/

Quote:
Moreover, gun control is an issue with what Spitzer describes as “hassle” and “intensity” factors that don’t favor advocates. Supporters of gun rights are passionate in a way that supporters of gun control are not — gun-rights backers are single-issue voters and activists, while on the other side, Spitzer says, “the typical gun control supporter is somebody for whom the issue is not a No. 1 concern, it’s No. 6 or No. 8.”
Do you find this to be true with you? If a candidate is anti-gun but favors everything else you believe in, would you vote for him? Or is the anti-gun issue a deal breaker no matter what?

I've made that decision before - I don't agree with everything the Republicans espouse - but the more important issues I do agree with...

Death Penalty and 2nd amendment vs Womans right to choose -

just another trade off - But I'm voting for Romney

I agree with Jack again! With out the 2nd Amendment there will be no other freedoms, or rights!

No surprise (considering this is a gun forum), but so far all of us agree it is a deal breaker.

As far as amendments go, If you don't have the second, you'll never have the first.

Deal Breaker. The 2 amendment is a litmas test for me. If they don't believe in the second then there will be others he/she will not believe in!! It all or none for me of the original 10 amedments. If they believe in "common sense" gun laws they are lying about how they really believe.

I don't trust Rommeny 100% BUT HE is 1000 times better than Odumbo!

If it's a wishy washy gun rights stance and not a big issue with the candidate, I might consider, but if the candidate is obviously anti gun, it's a no go for me.

Like Jack said, deal breaker for sure, because loss of our 2nd Ammendment rights will just lead to more and more losses.

All any candidate has to say is he is for banning or taxing anything to do with firearms and he/she lost my vote for good. I will listen to any other idea's but not that.

Constitutional Rights are what elected officials are sworn to protect. IMHO if they are anti-gun then they are anti-Constitution and do not get my vote!

It's a deal breaker for me as well. I also agree that our rights, set forth in the constitution, are what we elect these people to uphold and protect. If they are unable to agree with the entire document I will never vote for them.

Yup deal breaker for me as well. Here in North Carolina jsut about everyone hunts. In my county some hunt to literally put meat on the table. From what I can see most are working poor. Sooo I do not see North Carolina getting rid of long rifles at any time UNLESS the Feds force them. Oh and there is NO limit on magazine capacity to hunt.

I feel if he/she is against this one particular right guaranteed to me by the Constitution, that they probably don't give a damn for the rest of it as well. Deal breaker for sure.
