It seems if it's not one thing it's another.
My wife just heard her brother has been diagnosed with cancer in his bowel, on two sides of his liver, and dotted around his lungs. He goes in for surgery for the bowel cancer Monday and starts chemo therapy soon after that. He has two children under 10 years old, and is a major help for his mother, who has had a minor stroke. I'm requesting prayers for Michael's surgery, and the after care/chemo; for his family; for the rest of the family as they come to term with this. Also that this would be a time for God to work in his life and the lives of his family. Thanks, guys.

That's tough news. Our prayers for a successful surgery and complete recovery. Prayers for the family as well.

All, thanks for the prayers. They have been a real encouragement.
Stage 1 is through. Michael had his operation today; the colostomy was completed successfully. Next, he goes home once he has learned to manage the bag. Stage 2: he goes in for chemotherapy. The doctor's opinion is that since he is young and healthy they will do a massive treatment. Once things are better under control, they will operate to remove another tumor and remove the colostomy. Michael is sounding upbeat, cheerful. |

Thanks for the ongoing prayers, folks.
Update: He has had a few complications--some fever, and a paralytic ileus, both of which seem to be getting sorted. He is upbeat, in good spirits, starting to drink liquids and anticipating the chemo stage. This will be 6 sessions of three days, at 21 day intervals. |
