Really they are so blowing this out of proportion it is not even funny.

Just look at this map. is it 3-6" of rain (OMG we are all gonna wash away) or is it 10+" of rain (ZOMG It's the end of the world as we know it)... Good lord.

News media screaming PERFECT STORM OMG RUN FOR THE HILLS FOR 3 days now.

hey, it gives the weather channel a tingle. but 10 inches of rain along with heavy surf and a 4-8 foot surge is NOT good for anyone on the coast. been through it. big thing is loss of power there's a reason christie closed the casinos. seen that place flood with 4" of rain.

Well the generator is running fine both vehicles filled, 20 gallons of extra gas. Plenty of food and batteries etc but all for naught if the big river rises too much and I have to pack what I can carry. Praying somehow it will turn but it looks like the two big storms are going to merge on Monday.

Update 1300 hrs Sunday: springles no wind to speak of BUT the ground is soggy. Nat weather Service predicts winds 30-40mph with gusts of 50mph coming from North west starting 6 am Monday. NUTS I have 4 or 5 30-50ft pines on next door neighbors property to the NORTH of me. If one or more of those buggers fall on my brand new metal roof that cost 28K USD (paid for in part with ins funds from the LAST hurricane-I am going to be pissed.

I'm guessing that the worst is going to be flooding. 30 ft. waves with a full moon high tide is not going to be a good thing. Everyone in the area - just please be safe.

Update - one of our friends living on Long Island:
Winds are picking up, mandatory evacuation for all living on the coast.

Newest update this morning looks much better. Coast of South Jersey and Deleware going to get hit fairly bad and then it is to deteriorate quickly. We live near the big river in NE Penna and forecast this morning looks good. Lots of rain and local flooding but nothing that big. New York looks to be OK also.

Still going to be bad but I do not think it will be as bad as some saying. I just got call that our office is closed today and will probably be also tomorrow. Chance to get the storm drains relocated a little farther from house so I do not get ground water in basement.

Al Roker was just on saying that you have a serious cold front coming out of the north to collide with this.
