Default Poll watching brigade...

In an apparent try for Democrat of the Year and the Lead Balloon Award, Al Sharpton's announced he'll have a Poll Watching Brigade at Tennessee polling stations on Election Day.

Great for him. They can't go within 100 ft of the polling station anyway. Hope they all stand outside, watch people go vote and forget to vote themselves.

Tell that to the New Black Panthers that were right outside the polls in 08 and absolutely NOTHING happened. I'm sure Eric is all ok with it though.

This 100 foot rule, is this a State, County or Federal thing?

It is by state - here is the link to the Tennessee law: http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ The section you want is § 2-7-104.

They can send no more than 2 watchers to any polling station (if they aren't legal representatives of the Democrat party they can only send one poll watcher to any given location). They have to be registered as poll watchers, are not allowed to interfere in any way, intimidate any voter, and must wear identification badges along with which organization they are there as poll watchers for.

Very nice of the state law to require them to wear targets

Right. And anyone without a badge and not voting must remain a minimum distance of 100 ft.away. No matter if it's local, state or federal election.
I accidently showed up at a local election wearing a canidates shirt and got my arse run off. Couldn't vote til I either changed, covered it or turned it inside out.

I can't understand how Sharpton has any credibility with any group anywhere. But then look who is President, for a few more days any how.
