Default Why smart people plan... Why we do what we do best

This was a storm, nature, we knew it was coming well in advance . We know from the past what will happen. We have seen this before, again, again and again. Now let's say something worse happens, something so bad we don't see it coming and there is no help in weeks to come .

These people are fighting, shooting over gasoline. Let's try starving....no help in sight. What do you think would happen then ? We know the answer that's why we are here, that's why we know how important it is to arm ourselfs to defend our way of life, family and friends .

I hope this might wake some people up cause I know in the days to come it will get worse there. Now think how long it will take just to re supply that many people . If you have waited this long it's too late ......

What's your take ?

Okay, rant warning. I am rambling on again. Yes, I’ve had three adult beverages. Skip this post if you wish.
I am sorry for those who lost their homes. I am sorry for those who depend on generators but didn’t plan on how to fuel them. I am sorry for those who work and live in a liberal controlled city or state, who now find the “nanny state” cannot provide. I’m sorry for those who supported politicians who have regulated those who produce gasoline out of existence; for those who produced coal out of existence. I am sorry that our President believes he is helping by temporarily removing the regulation he supports so whole heartedly, and then boasts that he is there for the “people in need”. I am sorry that many feel his actions are helping and don’t see how his entire administration is crushing our country. I am sorry we have a main stream media with so many liberal socialist leaning A holes.
I feel sorry for those who relied on the government to provide everything from food to shelter. Who worshiped actors and actresses who provided shallow entertainment and made fun of those who wanted to protect our constitution and those who produced rather than those who suckled at the nation’s teat?
The grasshoppers are learning a hard lesson again, and the ants sigh and continue on.
Mostly I am sorry for our grandchildren for their future is bleak.
Okay, I’m done.

Good post, the time to be ready is now, not when we think something is going to happen
Food water, fuel ammo, all you may need at any time of year or weather day or night.

Well, this is certainly identifying who is who, as Ms Wilcox penned a century ago:

Quote:
Which are You?

THERE are two kinds of people on earth to-day;
Just two kinds of people, no more, I say.

Not the sinner and saint, for it's well understood,
The good are half bad, and the bad are half good.

Not the rich and the poor, for to rate a man's wealth,
You must first know the state of his conscience and health.

Not the humble and proud, for in life's little span,
Who puts on vain airs, is not counted a man.

Not the happy and sad, for the swift flying years
Bring each man his laughter and each man his tears.

No; the two kinds of people on earth I mean,
Are the people who lift, and the people who lean.

Wherever you go, you will find the earth's masses,
Are always divided in just these two classes.

And oddly enough, you will find too, I ween,
There's only one lifter to twenty who lean.

In which class are you? Are you easing the load,
Of overtaxed lifters, who toil down the road?

Or are you a leaner, who lets others share
Your portion of labor, and worry and care?

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

I think it is strange how so many people have been shown on tv new to say "I have never seen anything like this before". BS! What do these people think has happened many times over to the Gulf Coast States? Do they think its fun and games down here? Images on tv not good enough for them? I know darn well in the past when I have talked about storms and disasters i have said over and over again that you will never have enough fuel on hand. I know darn well others have said it to. I also tell that you will never have enough ammo if SHTF. Maybe now some will read between the line. I dont like to come out and say things but heck if your in a fire fight it is not uncommon to burn thru 5 to 10K rounds. So when i see these threads that ask how much ammo is enough I get sick. I see people say thing like "I have 150 rnds of 357 and 500 rnds of 223 and 900 rnds of 762x39" Well you barely have enough to last one min and then turn the gun on yourself. Get a clue.

Chris Christie is a schmuck. he is not gona make it thru this. The dude is gona crack, just look at how he is holding up. And the funny thing is NY and NJ dont have it that bad. At least there arent hundreds of undesirables shooting at them while they are trying to rescue others. I haven't heard of criminals shooting at the helocopters yet. No they got it good.

3rd day and like i said some are comming unglued because they are standing in a mile long line to buy gas.

People have lost the space in which they live and it is getting cold and there is no one there to help or to even put them up in a place to stay. People are gona loose their minds. The snow is coming, no hot water, no nothing to call home. And the savior is a colorful gent who has never held a job before except for the highest office in the land. And he is a fraud. Wonderful eh?
I heard a lady crying to bozo or maybe it was Christie I could not tell on the raido. I wondered why is this lady crying to bozo for? Bozo aint her friend. He is glad this happened to her. I was angry. You never let your enemy see you cry.

There is my rant. I shoud have drank a beer first.

Big cities are death traps. Always have been always will be. They are totally dependent on vast networks of logistics both incoming and outgoing, and when those networks are disrupted the city begins to die almost immediately.

What happens next is that the garbage will be piling up by the megaton, and won't be shipped out because of the gas/power situation. That will lead to diseases that will very likely overload any medical capabilities. People will panic, and start to permanently exit the city in large numbers further damaging the logistical networks. The outlying areas will have a great deal of difficulty dealing with several million refugee's.

I need to move out a bit further. Seems like the city encroaches more and more each year.

I think the key to long term survival is two-fold.
1) personal preperation
2) community preperation and cooperation

I have no doubt in my ability to keep me and my family alive for a few months in relitive comfort. A couple neighbors are also prepared. The problem really lies in the cities and large communities where there are large numbers of people who take no responsibility for themselves or their survival. I'll admit it'd be hard to fend off a couple hundred hungry city dwellers.

I am seriously considering mving further out into a small community where there are more than a couple of like minded folks. I guess the trick is finding such a place or building such a place.

In my humble opinion in order to survive long term, under catastrophic circumstances we will need to form like and kind small community's . The true strength will be in numbers . The all by myself thing wont work forever, we'll maybe for a small few.

People like you and me who have the same values working together for common goals of survival and freedom . What say you ?

This what happens when we depend on our government. I don't want to depend on my government to rescue me.

When hurricane Ike hit Houston we had 23 people stay with us. We had food, water, and toilet paper . Think you can figure how I feel about people dumpster diving for food in New Jersey.
