Default Machete Pics

I don't have a Machete knife but I think it would be handy to have one. Here is a pic of one that Gerber makes. I am wondering about what you guys have. Here's a linc to the Gerber.

Jim, that looks to be a copy of a Woodman's Pal.

Price ain't too bad. The real thing runs between 80 and a hundred bucks.

I've got one of them Kuhkris, that JLA shows. Ain't never used it for anything. Grip don't feel right in my hand. One I use all the time is an Ontario Knife 10" Bolo.

Thanks Alpo. I won't consider it then. I am on the prowl for one. I like the one you have in the pic. Is it hard to sharpen?

Nope. It sharpens up pretty easy with a 10" bastard. It's pretty soft steel. If I want to I can get out my hockey puck and put a real edge on it, just like doing an axe. I can get it shaving sharp, but doing brush down at the ground, and hit a rock and take a chip in the edge (I can see 3 of 'em in that picture, near the wide part of the blade), so I don't do the "really sharp" thing. Just did it once to see if it would take.

It takes forever to sharpen the Kukri. they are forged from truck leaf springs in India. And the steel is very hard. I use one of those puck sharpeners for it like Alpo mentions.

All mine are working knives, I don't have pictures of all of them but here are the ones I use the most.
