Default 2 guns diferent cal

How important is it if you have 2 pistols for them to be both 45 or both 9 or one of each.

Thought comes to mind you only need to buy one type of rounds. However what if in dire need you can only find 45 or 9, at least you can still use one of them.

Im afriad I do not understand the question..

The way i see it.. Buy as many differing calibers/gauges of firearms (Handgun, Rifle and shotgun) as you can afford and all the ammo you can afford for each one. That will guarantee that you will have a firearm and ammo to use should the need arise..

And youve only got 2 hands.. Aside from what movie characters can do on the silver screen, you can only effectively wield one firearm at a time, whether it be a handgun or a long gun..

I like to keep my calibers to a minimum but have several guns that fire them.
That's just me though, keeps me from the huge expense of buying many, many different rounds.

If you gotta get out of dodge, you got 2 pistols, one is a 45 and one is a 9, if they are both 45s and you run out, then come across someone that could trade you for one or the other, your assed out if you dont have the gun to match what they got. They are most likely to have either 45 or 9mm right, maybe its best to have one of both. I also think if you have all one cal say 45, and one of your guns goes to crap, you still have a gun for all that ammo, just brainstorming here, sorry to confuse ya buddy lol.

I own five M1911A1 .45 pistols, all of which I consider carry guns, not target pistols - though I regularly shot my Ithaca 11A1 on the 100yd range back in NY (quite successfully, I might add). Have many extra mags for the .45s, all of which have been rotated through and tested in each pistol, and lots of 230gr. hardball ammo - never trusted hollow points to feed first time, every time. Hey, I'm almost 70yo, call me old-fashioned. Also own several 9mm pistols, which include WW1 and '20s vintage Lugers, but only one 9mm I'd consider a carry gun - a Beretta M9. At any rate, if I had to get out of town with just two pistols, both of 'em would be .45s.

Thats the part that confuses me.. Why in Gods name would you bug out and not take all of your weapons? Maybe its just my country boy mentality but Im stayin put, I got all my guns, ammo ,a nd knives here, its more than i care to pack up and get outta dodge with anyway, plus my best chances of survival are where my roots are planted anyway.

Perhaps as a prepared country dweller I am unqualified to assess the scenario..

I was partial to the .40S&W... I have a Springfield XDM and Hipoint carbine that will shoot them... And the .40 is becoming a runner up to the 9mm and .45. I also have a SKS some what common 7.62X39 shooter (if your in with the AK crowd) a .32 ACP, 30-06, .410, and always a great back up.. the .22's. variety and tradability... all are functional..
I have the 7.62X39 and .40 S&W's as my front three... the -06 and .32 ACP are back ups... and the .410 and .22's are feeders!
If thats what your aiming for!... But its up to you. Cost can play a big part.. but I like the versatility!

I dropped my .40 and went to 9mm, 7.62x39 and .22. Still have a few Mosin's and 7.62x54 for them but not a stockpile. If I have to bugout, we're going to my buddy's out by the state forest and conservation areas where he has MORE 9mm and is set up to reload. I could care less about someone else not having ammo or stumbling across a .45 and all I have is 9mm. As long as all my pistols are that caliber and I have plenty of ammo, that's one less thing to concern myself with.

Bug out and take 50+ guns and ammo? I dont know Josh....Now, as for a few of the same caliber pistols...thats easy, I could also arrange to have about 30 magazines loaded too.....

Thats what I mean tho Dan. I wouldnt go anywhere. It doesnt make sense to leave the rest of your guns and ammo for someone else to take as thier own.

saying that you would never bug out is rather naive. so what if you live in the country? ever hear of a forest fire? or let's say a nuclear power plant which is upwind of you goes to hell? it's one thing to plan to stay put if society collapses, but you can never predict what nature will throw at you. having a plan B is always a good idea.

personally, i would go with a .45 and a 9mm, and maybe a .22 as an extra backup. those are the three most common handgun rounds, so it means i'd always be swimming in ammo. but smarter still is having an emergency cache located a good ways off your property and which no one but you knows about.

The next big hurricane might chase you out, Josh. Me too. We can meet in Amarillo.

One a .22 which takes S/L/LR and another, .357/.38?

Or a Judge/Governer .45/.410? Good variety.

But 1911 lovers will go .45 I can see that.

My plan is to get at least one firearm of every commercially available caliber. Then, no matter what I'll be able to shoot anything I can find (plus a few obscure older ones also)

PS you know half our town is wanting to move to Texas so you better get building me a back house buddy.

So figured I would see what some of you whom I respect have pondered.

I can only afford to buy one more hand gun right now.

The one I have is very sentimental and also bright ass nickle plated, 1911, not the best for daily carry either, so what I get I wont be heartbroken if it gets stolen or something.

That cover it?

i understand that wind currents can carry deadly radiation up to 200 miles! pretty safe to say that unless you're prepared for NBC and any other emergency that it's a good idea to have a bugout plan. in fact, even if you ARE prepared for all imaginable emergencies, you should still have a bugout plan, because of the Prepper's Creed: You Never Know.
