Default The 'cold' war vs today

Back when many of us here in this forum were children we learned to hide under the desk in the event of a nuclear attack on our country. Children of the now defunct Soviet Union were learning the same as we were.

After being 23 years away from my country and only getting back here twice during my time away, I am very sad to see what I see.

How did this happen here? So far, as I have researched, nobody actually knows. My country 23 years ago is NOT the same country yet, under Ronald Reagan we WERE the same country.

I find myself being honor bound to keep my oath yet hoped that at my age the next generation would protect me.

I protected them for a long time.

Well, I will keep my oath and I am not ashamed or afraid to say so publicly. And I do have guns of course. They are tools to me. I do not actually need an AR 15, but, I am making one 'just because I can'. One day this AR 15 just might be able to make the difference between Freedom and Tyranny.

I have specifically posted this in General Discussion - this is NOT a rant - This is a topic for philosophical discussion and an open discussion for my sadness for what I have finally been able to come home to.

Kind regards to everyone here - I know you are all Patriots.
Will

There is an old saying, "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything". And that is what happened to America. Many, many years ago we threw God under the buss! We allowed God haters to remove mention of him from our schools, and from our public places. We, America, became politically correct. Mention of God, or verses from the bible were best left in Church, not to be mentioned in public for fear of upsetting someone! Every body now says it's all about Right, and Wrong! Who says what is Right, or Wrong? With no guide, most of America no longer has any idea of what is right, or wrong, except their own concept, and that varries form one person to another.

Lamentations Chapter 5:
1. Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.
2. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3. We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows.
5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

Anyone here remember Madalyn Murray O'Hair? When she won her court cases back in the '60s, which effectively removed God and Bible learning from American classrooms, I knew we were heading downhill morally.

Yep, this is when the brakes went completely out on this runaway train.

We were a whole lot safer during the "cold war" than we are now! I've been alive since the beginning of it. What I see today scares the ever lovin...out me.

A lot of people thought that I was silly at the time for saying that I hated to see the Soviet Union go out of business, but I was serious then and still feel that way now. At least with the USSR we knew who the enemy was.

Live, laugh and love commrades.

And most importantly, be willing to die for what you live for, that you laugh at and those you love.

I live for freedom, laugh for lifes moments and love fiercely my friends an family. And I would hesitate NOT ONE SINGLE MOMENT to fight and die for any of them.

Exactly what I was thinking although the 1962 Cuban Missle Crisis did scare the he11 out of us, I was 12.

I now fear the nutjobs and worse yet idiotic "suicide bombers" more here on our soil.

Plus the state sponsored cyberterrorists and cyber theives!

I remember all the 1950s and 1960s public and home fallout shelters....still might come in handy?

We're waiting to close on 20 acres in the middle of nowhere (finally found just the right place, Josh). After getting the gardens going and my shop built, I'll be eye-balling a tractor I'll need to build my storm/root/bomb shelter. Wonder if everyone will think we're nuts?
