Default Just an observation

Just wanted to say something.

I have often wondered about the story of Sodom and Gamoria.

I have wondered how it was possible for everyone in those areas to get to the point they did. How could it be possible?

Now I see. I never thought i would see days like this when i was growing up.

Nothing is left

The decay of a society doesn't happen all at once, its gradual and seems harmless at the time.

I don't worry very much (actually not at all) about what happened or didn't in a couple of almost certainly mythical ancient cities. Social decay can happen and can be forestalled, but I'm pretty certain using parables without any real basis in fact as a "lessons learned" touchstone isn't a way to keep it from happening.

A large number of people today are racing down the road to destruction, and with each step they prove they not only believe this story DIDN'T happen, but they believe it CAN'T happen.

There IS a day of judgment coming, and it will come on each person - with or without their belief that it will.

The events leading up to the destruction of Sodom and Gemorah reflect what is happening in the western world today. Genesis 19 shows the agressive behavior of the homosexuals.

Romans 1 shows the trail to depradation.

History is littered with the carcases of morally corrupted civilizations. Rome, Egypt, the Mayan civilization; ancient Greece; the list goes on and on.

It's very easy to get to the level of depravity. Act as if it's the normal way of life, and ridicule and belittle all who don't follow.

Actually, the cities have been discovered and excavated. There's a pretty convincing video reenactment of an asteroid striking a mountaintop in the Alps
and scattering debris over the region in question.

And silence the oposition by making it illegal to say anything contrary. Make out anything other than depraved is cruelty and aberrant behavior and must be "corrected", brought into line with the depraved way of thinking. The media and the educational system jump onto the bandwagen.

You are so right.

I believe there was a time when Sodom & Gomorrah may have been a place of blessing & plenty. I think that is one reason Lot chose to go there. But, because of the wealth & riches there they became complacent and felt no need for God.

Once a group of people feel there is no need for God, SIN will always follow! If left unchecked, God will have no choice but to destroy that group of people lest they corrupt HIS children.

Make no mistake, there is destruction coming to this nation and the world. But, God's people are promised protection & grace should the Lord tarry and not call them home. The rain may fall on the "just" as well as the UN-just. God's people may stumble & fall at times. But, they will NEVER be utterly cast down.

There is a story in Genesis 25 starting at V 29 about Jacob and Esau. Jacob was cooking some stew and Esau wanted some. He felt so hungry he sold his birthright for a bowl of stew. In later passages of scripture we hear several times about 'the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob' - notice Esau is never mentioined. He sold his birthright for a bowl of stew.

Today our stew can be booze, drugs, porn, illicit afffairs, lust, greed, fornication...

I admit, many times in my life selling my birthright for some of these bowls of stew. I cannot imagine what blessings were lost by not remaining faithful to the commands of my God, my Lord and Savior Jesus.

I can't fix anyone but me. The government most certainly can't fix anyone.

Please be careful regarding political references; there are too many threads descending into politics here on TFF, and this trend is being squelched.

But you are right, russman -
